Tomb may shed light on 10th plague
By Charles M. Sennott, Globe Staff | November 23, 2004
LUXOR, Egypt Out of the blinding light of a fall morning here in the Valley of the Kings, American archeologist Kent Weeks led the way down a narrow, stone passageway and into the entrance of a tomb.
Weeks peered his flashlight into the enveloping darkness of the hidden tomb, as he calls it, and pressed on through the damp, winding passages toward what may be his archeological teams most significant find after years of methodical digging, scraping, and brushing.
At the end of a long hallway a human skull rested, propped up in a wooden box, and framed in the bleak light of a bare bulb powered by a generator that rumbled through the stony silence of the tomb.
This skull Weeks believes, and new scientific evidence suggests may be that of the oldest son of Rameses II, the pharaoh who most historians agree was the ruler of ancient Egypt more than 3,000 years ago at the time of the biblical story of the Exodus.

GGG Ping.
I believe that Archaelogists generally agree that the time line is wrong for Ramses to have been the Pharaoh of the exodus.
All of this is nonsense. Since the Great Pyramid was built prior to the last Ice Age by unknown people, much of the "record" is falsely interpreted against a wrong baseline.
And then we have the Liberal word "metaphor"...
And, I promise not to being up Zecharia Stitchen or Immanuel Velikowski...(oops...)
Hmmn, now that is interesting...
Perhaps the book of Exodus is more metaphor than actual history? It will be interesting to see where this goes in the future...
At one time I would have traveled over there to see some of their ancient artifacts, but now I fear I would end up losing my head.
If history says he was felled by a plague, and this body was not...I guess it's not the guy.
But I do love this stuff!
The timing could not have happened. These mythological plagues would have brought the Golden Age of Egypt to its knees, and there is ZERO evidence of that happening. Quite the contrary.
I am more and more convinced that the ancient Hebrews came from Iraq. At least the pillar of fire and staff of smoke references makes sense in terms of volcanic activity at the time, and it's from the right direction.
Why do archaeolgists (and scientists in general) believe that just because they can explain something, God had nothing to do with it?
Then I suppose promising not to bring up Erich von Daniken wouldn't help either... ;-) ;-)
One would think that, but it seems a lot of the fellows didn't get the memo: they are, many of them, EPOXIED to the old timeline. I guess they don't like to revise their opinions.
If it is then none of the Bible is true.
It took Weeks to figure this all out...
...and there was no Troy.
Erich is/was entertaining. Zecharia and Immanuel are scholarly.
OK You got my curiosity up. Who are Zecharia Stitchen and Immanuel Velikowski?????
Or Niniveh, either. Or neither. Either.

=====
In February of 1980 I had the unique opportunity to lay prone inside the sarcophagus within the Kings Chamber in the Great Pyramid of Cheops, at Giza... while consulting with Egyptologists at the magnificent Cairo Museum in Cairo, Egypt. (A truly amazing, once in a lifetime, experience that has been duplicated only by former AM radio talk show host Art Bell.) !!!
Today you couldn't pay me to go to Egypt !!!
It isn't unknown for an underclass to rise up and kill their masters in the night. Look at the Sepoy rebellion in India in the middle of the 19th century.
On the other hand, in ancient Egypt, wouldn't it be to the advantage of both sides to attribute the deaths of first born sons to an act of God, rather than an uprising?
Of course, as far as I remember, the Egyptian records of the time don't record any of this.
