[history]
President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.

Can you imagine kerry, gore, hildebeast, bubba or any of the kennedys doing this? I can't.
To: Diogenesis
We are all truly blessed of God to have a man like this in leadership over us.

Very scary, even if it's a misunderstanding. The arrangements should have been (and probably were) worked out ahead of time. Clearly, the president, particularly during a war against worldwide terrorists, isn't going into a large building filled with hundreds of people (including dozens or hundreds of anonymous "workerbees") without close Secret Service protection.
I wonder if the world's anti-americanism isn't getting completely out of hand to the point that it is endangering the president abroad, even at supposed "safe" locations and events.

The President needs to start traveling, at least in foreign countries (including visiting the UN), with a Marine Expeditionary Unit along for the trip (probably does that already), but also a fully loaded out platoon in close attendance. >>>>>>>>>
And I dare any Chiliean security scrum to put his hands on a Marine in uniform protecting the President like that.

Maybe he already does and we just don't realize it. I'm sure he does everything necessary to take care of those travelling with him; he cares about their (especially Laura's) safety more than his own!

Well, if this President thing doesn't work out for him, he can always get a security job at Pacer games.

If John F'n Kerry were to be confronted like this, I am sure he would have checked with the French before taking any such action.

Never happen. There would be Hell to pay for the poor guys who were so unfortunate to have been on the scene. The dum dims can't appreciate the people who protect them (since we're all one big happy family, I mean)...

I'm not much of a drinker but enjoy a nice hard adult beverage from time to time. That picture, catching Laura with a look that I interpret as, "Hmmmm, one of those would be good right now" has me wishing I had a big fat Margarita right now. :-)

I agree with you about the slap from Chileans. They are really irate about Iraq. Can't figure--they're nowhere near the region. Must just be a hate America thang.
It makes me proud of W, too. The world can call him a cowboy all they want--about the only manly man leading a nation. I love cowboys and Texans--that's why I married one.
