Who should be FReeRepublic's "Man of the Year"????Nominations are open
Freepers | 11/16/04 | self

This was discussion on another thread as to who would get Time's prestigious Man of the Year award. It was suggested that John O'Neill should. It just seems unlikely that this will come to fruition. So who needs Time, anyhoo? Freeper tazannie suggested that we have our own "Man of the Year" awards and Jim gave his blessing to let the nominations begin!

I suggested that the winner be the guest of honor at the Freeper Ball. Wouldn't that be a blast?

Because this outstanding effort has been ongoing treasure here at FR ~ I nominate pookie18 for the Today's Toons posts!

These posts brought smiles, even on days when things looked pretty darned bleak. Thx, pookie18!!

If we're nominating a Freeper it's Buckhead. If we are opening it to activists everywhere it's John O'neill. I suggest one of each.

Without a doubt, the man of the year is Ronald Wilson Reagan:

Reagan's death captivated the nation who mourned in tribute for a month. Reagan's conservative movement is still alive today and is being carried on by President Bush. Reagan was more influential on George W's poltics than his own father. The biggest stories of the year were Bush/GOP winning the election and Reagan's death. Both of those stories involve the greatest man of the 20th Century whose legacy still goes strong even after his long fight with alztimers ended.

I have not read all the posts, and BUCKHEAD is certainly the odds on favorite. BUT, there are other notable FReepers who are always in the trenches doing the good fight, Tonk - Meek - The Mods, are just a few.

So my vote goes to BUCKHEAD for the 2004 FReeper of the year, but JimRob/WE should consider a couple more names for honorable mention in 2004:

Jerome Corsi - FReeper Author - "Unfit for Command"
MeekOneGOP - FReeper Pinger 2004

Get my drift? And for the rest, there is always 2005.

Thanks for that...but I have already experienced that particular honor once and am in no position, either as a result of new actions on my part, or because of the impact of former actions, to be considered for such an honor again.

My vote is for Buckhead, 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub, or Interesting Times.
