It didn't take long for President Bush to betray those who returned him to office for another four years.
The first big insult to his base came this week when he moved to resurrect his ugly plan to relax rules against illegal immigration – as if they weren't relaxed enough.
Bush reportedly met privately in the Oval Office with Sen. John McCain to discuss re-igniting his badly misguided initiative to grant legal status to millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States.
McCain is one of the Senate's most outspoken supporters of expanding guest-worker programs and has introduced his own bill to offer a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants – in other words, another amnesty program like those that have failed so badly in the past. It's time for the American people to rise up, once again, and denounce this plan as vociferously as possible – not just to defeat it, but to put a stake through its heart once and for all.
The leader in Congress on this issue is Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., who characterized Bush's plan for what it is:
An amnesty by any other name is still an amnesty, regardless of what the White House wants to call it. Their amnesty plan was dead on arrival when they sent it to the Congress in January, and if they send the same pig with lipstick back to Congress next January, it will suffer the same fate.
Let's hope he is right. But, more importantly, let's be sure he is right by lending him the nationwide support he needs to ensure defeat of this dangerous proposal.
Why dangerous? Because this nation is at war. It is an unconventional war waged by monsters who have in the past used our lax immigration policies to attack us here at home – and they are certain to do so again.
As astonishing as it is to believe, U.S. borders actually became more porous following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks and the incorporation of immigration enforcement agencies within the Department of Homeland Security.
It should surprise no one that illegal immigration into the U.S. has accelerated in the last year, since Bush proposed a temporary worker program that amounts to a limited amnesty program that would allow millions to remain in the U.S. legally.
In the coming 12 months, some 3 million more illegal aliens will enter the country – "enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 737-700 airliners, or 60 flights every day for a year." According to Time magazine, this year's influx of illegal aliens is the largest wave since 2001, and illegal immigration now represents triple the number of immigrants who enter the country legally.
While new security procedures guard our airports from illegal entry, thousands of aliens walk across or drive across the Mexican border with impunity every day.
The illegal immigrants include a growing number of people categorized as "other than Mexicans," including many from nations with populations hostile to the United States – Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran and Iraq.
Americans overwhelmingly want to crack down on illegal immigration, but the government elite don't seem to want to fix the problem. Even those caught violating the border multiple times are not punished, according to the report.
Besides the security nightmare this invasion creates, illegal immigration is driving up the cost of living for American citizens and making our communities less safe.
Why does this trend continue without any real national debate? Why are our laws ignored not only by the criminal invaders but by our elected officials? Why do both political parties pretend there is no problem?
The response from the American people should be this:
Let's try enforcing the old laws before we pass any new ones.
Let's try beefing up the Border Patrol.
Let's try pressuring the companies hiring these illegal aliens to hire legal Americans.
Let's try denying taxpayer-supported social services to lawbreakers.
Let's try deportations.
Let's try enforcing criminal laws against illegal aliens just as we prosecute American citizens.
Let's encourage states and local governments to cooperate with immigration to uproot the illegals – especially those who continue to break the law.
Let's try putting the National Guard at our borders.
Let's try bringing home more than 100,000 American troops currently guarding Germany from some unknown threat and place those troops where they can make a difference – protecting America from an ongoing invasion.
Maybe the president, living in his ivory tower, doesn't realize the effects this national plague is having on ordinary Americans. It's about time he heard from us.
Bush is out of his mind also on the issue of illegal immigration. 6 billion people on the planet and,I would venture to guess 5 1/2 billion would like to come here, shhheessshh, even that is to many to pick our fruit,why is he selling us out? We don't need a bleeding heart in the WH, at this juncture in our history, even in the best of times this would be a massive burden upon us as taxpayers, but with the war on terror going on it is a moronic, maybe even a treasonous act from the WH.
He has never stated those words, however he hasn't done diddlely squat about it, he even has encouraged more immigration [illegal] by his statements, if nothing more happens than we will have been proven wrong, but should having "loose" borders cause an unspeakable act of terrorism, Bush will have to shoulder some culpability for it.
I suppose you haven't heard about the southern border patrols finding muslim prayer rugs in the deserts at the southern crossings, but hey, maybe its only Mexicans leaving behind tablecloths. sloppy buggers, arent they?

Joseph Farah--could you or somebody please tell me why Bush is doing this? Mexico tried to be an obstacle in the WOT. It's as bad as France. We're not getting any extra oil, that I can see.
For starters, I'd just like an explanation.
Why should that be the case? This community encourages and harbors illegals yet they are being courted by both major political parties. On top of that, by some estimates 1/4 - 1/3 of this community is illegal to begin with so why to we have to "play nice" with law breakers?
Is the reason why gangs run rampant in our cities because the cops are waiting to gain the punk's trust before enforcing the law? What kind of thinking is that?
So if we want less illegals in our country, that's somehow racist? Is that you Cruz?
In retrospect, it does seem unlikely that Tancredo would have run much worse than Pete Coors did.

Bush didnt really betray us he said he was for this type of illegal alien reform way before the election, he has also showed his support for the Latino community long before the election, so he never lied about that to us.
We saw what we wanted to see.
No one complained and said I will withold my vote until you change your views on that issue, we never made it a campaign issue.
Look we voted for the man we placed him in office and now we will live with that decision for the next 4 years and to whine about it now is useless. When we vote for a person we are voting to live with whatever decisions that man makes for us and the country for 4 years. Whoever he chooses for his cabinets, whoever he appoints as a justice or other place is HIS decision to make now and we can no longer do anything about that.
Yes, that may sound harsh but even tho I am pro-Life, and against illegals, I am resigned now to the fact that all I can do is complain and whine because I cannot do anything else. I can complain that they now want to change the constitution for ONE mans political gain. Even tho they are opening up a dangerous political pandora's box. I can just see it now as one of the illegal aliens runs for Pres.
I voted for a man who ran on moral values, who ran as a pro-life man, who will put prayer back in schools, do everthing possible to protect the unborn and the born,
I didnt vote for someone who will not protect the laws of the land. So I guess I will live with that decision now. But that doesnt mean I wont complain because beleive me I will.
And hopefully my senator will listen to my complaints.

Well because. He said out of the 20,000,000 that have entered this country illegally, not 1 is a terrorist. Out of the 2 million or so that continue to enter illegally every year, not 1 is terrorist. Yes, there are countless rapist, murderers, gang bangers, thieves, robbers, drug dealers etc, but no terrorist.

Hey, why not? Look at Iraq. We could bring over all the Iraqi's looking for a better life. We owe them, since we took over their lives. They'll work cheap, too. When we've got 10 to 20 million of them here, we can just bomb the place, be done with it and bring the troops home.
But what is the fraction? 3/4, 1/2, 1/9?
Even if you believe the anti-Mexican fundraising organizations and public employees labor unions, one out of three get caught. (and that number is so unrealistic that if you total the numbers half the U.S would be illegals)
But even the highest estimate of one out of three being caught, that figure is much to high for terrorists to risk losing their nuclear weapon and trained team trying to drag it across the desert, over the mountains and across the Rio Grande.
Terrorists have vast resources including their own fleet of ships and companies engaged in international trade. Terrorists have access to intelligence services of numerous countries. They can obtain official visas from a number of countries. They have training camps and the latest electronic communication devices.
Impoverished Mexicans trying to sneak across the border to take dirty menial low paying jobs have no choice but to walk for days across the desert carrying a gallon of water. Hundreds die each year just from the elements. Most (IMO) get caught or turned back.
Our Southern border is already pretty secure from terrorists dragging nuclear weapons across the desert.

Bush does not have to say he wants open borders, its
reflected in his total support for the FTAA. Thru this
trade agreement our borders will be open.
