What is going on in FLORIDA...Post here.

Posted on 11/02/2004 6:08:43 AM PST by Bushite

(Miami) Okay...My wife is at a precinct in Northern Hialeah/Southern Opalocka (She is pushing for the construction Bonds for Dade County and of course working as my Mole........)

That area is 50/50 really....you have alot of middle class Cubans and middle class African Americans....

The NAACP is out front observing....

A Republican Poll Watcher told my wife that he can't figure out where the Dem GOTV is...they (NAACP) were expected to be at the opening of the polls with a Bus load and he was there early to wait for them....(They have not arrived...and the NAACP folks said that they will not bus in to that station.

Lines are long....some African Americans walked out off the lines and where confronted by the NAACP officials...some ugly words...the African Americans left...saying "AH...it's really not that important to vote this year."

My wife has been talking to a Black Lady that is working at the precinct and they got around to talking about who they were voting for and the Black Lady said that she was voting for Bush because "He's been okay...and I don't like Kerry, although Bush shouldn't have been there in the first place cuz Gore won Florida." For some reason...Al Gore is loved by African Americans...there is NO energy FOR Kerry in the African American community.

Hey, Red, what are you wearing? Maybe I can spot you out my window.

On topic, I did not see any MoveOn signs at my precinct in central Daytona Beach. Some people holding Kerry signs lacklusterly, no one holding Bush signs.

It did seem that some of the signs, placed on the lawn there were not the proper distance from the voting place. However, some of those were Republican signs. It looked like equal opportunity placement on those signs, but they all looked too close.

Just voted in N. Palm Beach County. Only a 1/2 wait but the line was only 15 people deep. Believe it or not, only 3 voting machines. Neighboring precinct (same polling location) had 5 machines and an hour wait.

People discussing the Constitutional amendments while in line (not the candidates) and seemed very confused about what each amendment was suppoesed to accomplish. All against the high speed train. The others a mixed bag.

Checking in from Orlando. Only 4 people in front of me when I arrived at my polling place in the Conway area at 7:45 this morning. No line at all when I left. There were some unbelievably long lines at the library near my house for the last few days. I think most people must have voted early. Everyone that I work with waited in very long lines this morning so my polling place seems to be the exception.

My precinct for God's sake, is a mobile home park and everyone has blue hair. They aren't big fans of the political activity area as I learned on August 31, 2004.

I voted already but am dropping by the Cascades Mobile Home Park later to see if anything's shaking there.

And, I'm going to Walmart to tease a Walmart clerk who's a liberal ex-teacher. All in fun of course.

BIG NEWS....The NAACP people were getting aggressive with the Voters.....The started electioneering inside the gates of the precinct...The Republican Poll Watcher made a call...

AND....

The State Attorney's office people were there within...5 MINUTES!!!! They told the NAACP people to get out or they will call the cops and have them arrested....

The Dem poll watcher then got in the act...and called "someone" on his cell phone and said: "We need more Kerry people down here...we got Bush people all over the place like robots..isn't this supposed to be a Dem precinct?" The Pub poll watcher then confronted the Dem and said: "Ha...I guess your turnout isn't as good huh?" (It was friendly..they were not confrontational with each other.)

The Dem Poll watcher then said: "Yeah...the energy is really with Bush this year.."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....HOORAY FOR ALL OF US BUSH BOTS!!!!!

Just saw this article in the Orlando Slantnel:

SUIT ASKS FOR END TO INTIMIDATION AT POLLS

By Robert Perez | Sentinel Staff Writer
Posted November 2, 2004, 9:48 AM EST

SANFORD -- A Winter Springs man is asking the courts to block national, state and local Democratic Party officials from intimidating Republican poll watchers by threatening them with criminal prosecution for simply doing their jobs.

The suit, filed after hours Monday in Seminole County Circuit Court by attorneys for J. Thomas Monk, alleges that a letter sent by the National Democratic Committee to Republican poll watchers intimidates and harasses them. The one-page letter, which began arriving in poll watchers' mail boxes Oct. 28, "misrepresents the poll worker's legal rights and obligations to make a challenge under Florida law and seeks to prevent poll workers from exercising lawful challenges."

Seminole Circuit Judge Nancy Alley could hold a hearing on the injunction request as early as 9:30 a.m. today.

The letter, a copy of which was attached to the suit, is titled, "important legal notice."

It reminds each Republican poll watcher that the process of challenging the legality of any voter's right to cast a ballot "must not be abused as a means of harrassing or intimidating voters." It goes on to warn each poll watcher that each challenge must be explained in writing and be made under oath, and that a poll watcher must have personal knowledge of the facts upon which the challenge is based.

The letter includes a paragraph in italic print that warns that it is illegal under Florida law to "intimidate, threaten or coerce or attempt to intimidate, threaten or coerce any person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such person to vote."

The sentence in the paragraph warns: "Therefore, should a challenger make a knowingly false challenge, that person could be subject to criminal prosecution."

The issue of Republican poll workers challenging Democratic voters has been a major issue in the Ohio courts, where Republican officials tried to challenge thousands of voter registrations in advance of today's voting.

Can all Florida Freepers check their polling places for out of state plates and write down the numbers -- we need to stop this double voting and this could be the year that people are charged.

Call your local HQ with the numbers or freep mail me for a number to call.

Thanks!

Jack Harris has been in Tampa Bay forever. He used to own a restaurant, has a trophy wife and does commercials for Hospice of the Suncoast which I believe is a corrupt enterprise. He does restaurant reviews on Bay News 9 and the morning show here on wfla. Since he sold out for Hospice, I don't care for him but he is a Republican. He emailed me that he was GOP in 2000.

IN FLORIDA, NOBODY SHOULD TURN AROUND AND GO HOME IF THEY HEAR KERRY WINS AS MUCH AS PIE EATING CONTEST! The media is going to help Kerry as much as humanly possible and imo, that includes Fox News where there's been a little slippage in the fair and balanced dept.

However, Billy O' Reilly gave President Bush a decent interview last night.

In Pensacola my wife was at work and saw people running around spraypainting Crosses over KEdwards signs.

My neighbor has a little Yorkie (one of those yappy dogs). My wife walks him every night.

His favorite spot to poop is in front of one of the Kerry/Edwards signs in the neighborhood.

He has been doing this every night for about two weeks!

Voted at 9:30 in beautiful Islamorada, Florida Keys. Short lines, efficient workers (asked for ID and also asked for street address). Hubby and I took turns voting and holding 6 month old daughter, who wore her patriotic outfit and charmed all the poll workers. Both voted proudly for President Bush, Mel Martinez, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and the rest of the Republican ticket. Campaigners for both Bush and Kerry were outside. Lots more Bush signs. One of the volunteers took our picture with the baby in front of the signs for the photo album.

Fingers, toes, and everything else are crossed!!
