No school here today. Call it a civics credit!
I got the net. The kids get the TV.
Just voted in Thiensville, WI. My third time voting for Pres in this location. I've never seen a line out the door like this time! Made me tear up a bit as I walked up to the line.
Straight Repub ticket was my vote. Go GW!
*LOL* Same here. I'll go vote at their school today then watch the talking heads on TV once the kids go to bed tonight (normal bedtime is around 7-8ish)
When I got into work this morning, my boss had sent out an email to everyone at the company reminding everyone that they could take whatever time they needed to go vote today. When I arived to vote they had divided up our 16 wards into 1-7 and 8 though 16 with 2 lines. My ward was in the short line so I didn't have to wait at all. I registered on the spot, got in the short line, had some nice woman offering to explain the ballot to me, which kinda made me laugh. ( "Don't bother, it's straight GOP ticket for me")
I got into the booth, looked down at the straight Republican little arrow thing that I needed to complete, and filled in in. I stood alone, holding my filled out ballot, said short prayer for our CiC and the best of the best in the field, and walked with a feeling of pride I haven't felt in years.
I figured if my fellow Americans were willing to start their day, this day November second, with an RME, get in a stryker and scan for IEDs as they drove convoy, the least I could do, on this day November 2nd, is to take a 1/2 hour and vote Republican. Thank you FR.
Anyone looked over at DU to see what they have to whine..er...say about the junk in Philly?
I'd prefer listening to the "typing heads" than talking heads......
Huh?
I hit the voting line at 9:30 PM in Fremont, Michigan (predominantly Republican town). Steady flow of people. In and out within 10 minutes. Our town of 4000 people has about 16 voting booths at the city hall. No Bush or Kerry signs in view. Fairly quiet. I will be on cloud nine if Bush takes Michigan. The MGOP has been working hard for Bush. Detroit has a large Muslim population, so it will be interesting to see how Detroit goes.
Huge turnout this morning at Piedmont and Cheshire Bridge (30324). When I arrived at the polls at 0700 there were hundreds of people already in line. I waited in line for an hour and 15 minutes.
The electronic process was simple enough and there were about 12 booths at the precinct. The poll workers were swamped with people and you had to show ID. That was nice to see.
My poll workers said they were missing 4 people that were supposed to work, but failed to show up. Last minute volunteers are not allowed to work inside the polling place, but could stand outside and direct folks to where they're supposed to go and help with traffic.
The little old lady that was working at the poll said she had never seen a turnout like today in her 40 years as a poll officer. The gay turnout was huge (marriage amendment). It sure did feel good to vote for W.
Subject: NOT ENOUGH!
We all have friends and family who are on active military duty. I cannot imagine being a Marine stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan and having a president win today's election on the platform of "this is the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." I hope you will agree with me that Kerry is the wrong candidate in the wrong place at the wrong time to be the Commander in Chief to our friends and family who have sacrificed so much to serve our country.
Today, of all days, it is simply not enough to vote. As a personal favor to me, please take two minutes this morning to call or e-mail a friend or two and encourage them to get to the polls and vote. Tell them that this election is extremely important to you and that, as a personal favor to you, would they please consider getting to the polls and voting for Bush. There are so many razor thin margins in so many battleground states, that this election may well turn on one or two votes per precinct. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Mexico and Hawaii WILL decide this election. If you have friends in these crucial states PLEASE encourage them to vote for Bush.
Semper Fi.
I believe that historically it's tended to favor Dems (because it would include more of the apathetic and uninformed?). But the Republicans seem to have taken a lesson and are working on getting out their own vote. And (obviously?) if the marriage amendment pulls a high turnout, it would be crazy for people to for that and for Dems at the same time -- Kind of voting against yourself.
NBC was giving out a phone number to report voting problems....i was just trying to make the point that the same people who supposedly don't know how to use the voting machines don't have trouble figuring out their ATMs, etc.
Voted in Leon County, Tallahassee, FL. Seemed like a HUGE turnout, lots of Kerry stickers, though. Friggin' college towns.
Just left polling place in VA where my brother voted. (I'm a MD res. am heading there after this post) Outside: All going in accepting yellow BUSH sample ballots. I waited for him in my car and of the 15 or 20 that went in only one accepted a light blue Kerry sample ballot before going in. I witnessed Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and Moms turning down the Kerry flyer for BUSH flyers. Inside: I didn't go in, but when my brother came back out he said of about 75 people inside that he saw only ONE person with Kerry sample. He said that a Hispanic couple in front of him were saying, in highly accented English, "BUSH, YES! BUSH YES!" Mind you, that he lives in a cummunity where he is the ethnic minority (white). GO BUSH!!!
I was wondering what you were talking about.
Tom Marr was telling the callers who to call to report these polling place discrepancies.
Now that's what I call entertainment, especially if the GOP does well nationally.
Woohoo!
I voted for a US Rep (R) candidate who will lose. I voted for a state rep (R) candidate who will lose. I voted for a state Senate (R) candidate who will lose. I wrote my daughter's name in against a governor's councillor (D) running un-opposed.
And I voted for a presidential candidate who will lose, at least where my vote's counted. But I go and vote anyway...
For the first time since 1984, I voted Republican in the Presidential Election. Not that it will make any difference...
In 1988, I was in NH, and it wasn't close. I voted for Ron Paul.
In 1992, I was in Massachusetts and it wasn't close. I voted for Andre Marrou.
In 1996, I was in Massachusetts and it wasn't close. I voted for Harry Browne.
In 2000, I was in Massachusetts and it wasn't close. I voted for Harry Browne.
In 2004, I'm in Massachusetts and it isn't close. But I voted for George W. Bush anyway. It's the only chance that I'm going to get to do so. God Bless Him.
