As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads. I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .
The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion. Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

The good news is that this a very solid GOP part of Lafayette, with a few Yellow Dog RATS. Lafayette High has four precincts, and the parking lots were full when I left. While I have no doubt that Dubya will win Louisiana, I want Vitter and Boustany to win tonight, avoiding runoffs. So far, I'm encouraged.

Was the 16th voter at my district in Staten Island this morning. Turnout seemed heavy at for 6:15am.

Why ID is not required is beyond me. Actually I do know why, fraud, fraud and more fraud.
I'm glad they asked you for ID, nothing to fear if your legit.
I pray this cuts down the Dem fraud significantly.
Praying non-stop for the Pres and our Troops.

Ditto. I am optimistic that Vitter can win enough of the vote to avoid a runoff.

Interesting things - Move0n Pac person wearing a red arm band monitoring the line; NAACP table set up to "remind" people about their rights WHOA! This was *at* the polling place!? You might want to make a call to ensure they're complying with local law.

I voted in Miami County, Ohio this morning (about 15 miles north of Dayton). I arrived at 6:25 and, for the first time in the eight years I have lived here, there was a substantial line outside the polling place waiting on the doors to open. I was the 24th voter. There was an even longer line when I left 35 minutes later. This is a staunchly GOP county, so I'll take this as a good sign.
The inordinately long time to vote was caused by a few factors: 1) only 4 voting booths; 2) we have to color in an oval on the ballot (like a standardized school exam) rather than punch a card; and 3) two people ahead of me were attempting to vote in the wrong precinct; as the poll worker called the Board of Elections to get them the correct location, they left.

But my observation will probably hold in many states.
I'll bet by 5:00PM you'll see news items of voting sites running out of ballots.

Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio.....Already cast my vote for "W". This morning our high school students were sent home because of a bomb threat. That will be on people's minds this am when they go to the polls. Also, the churches here have gotten REALLY involved this election, going to Bush rallies. Bush will be OVER THE TOP!! Thank the good Lord.

Just voted in Fairfax City, Va. Democrats there as well as Bushies. One dim wore her Kerry button right through the line and was instructing some Arab folks on how to vote. Did not say a thing to her; the lady behind her had a pair of Bush shoes on. You can almost pick out the dims on how they look. And in the parking lot one dim was installing a beat Bush bumper sticker.
To: jawz
a lady was passing out "recommendations" to people in line (of course the recommendations were the democrat judges). Isn't electioneering at the polling place illegal?
