Today's Topic: If I Were President, I Would.....?

With the election going on today, we decided to make each of you "President" for a day. Now that you are ruling the country--what would you do? Would you give everyone Friday's off? Would you get rid of the income tax? What would you do?

~ President (Insert Your Name) ~

Scenario

Before you sit down and do this, please GO VOTE!

America needs you. You have been made President for a day because the current one is going fishing on the new Mars settlement.

If I Were President, I Would......

Ban Taxes?
Remove The Speed Limit?
Repeal the Beer Tax? (Have to get a plug in for Burkaman 4 President!)

What would you do?

We want to know!!

Now it's your turn to share. What would you do as President?

Wow -- good minds think alike.

We seem to have a deep seated problem with the Department of Education, and we are right. IIRC, it was a Carter creation. If I'm wrong, I will know it in about 2 minutes.

Put Kobe, Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, and Martha Stewart all in the same jail cell. Oh, and Greta van Cistern too. Then I'd ban ever mentioning their names again.

Martha could get out when her five months is up, but the rest never get to come out.

If I were elected President I would immediately work to reform the voting system across the country. I would require installation of the same type fingerprint scanners as we have at airports to screen foreign visitors. I think all Americans deserve to know that their vote is worth just as much as someone who isn't bound by ethics or morals not to cheat.

Great post and question.

I would require all national leaders (who receive aid) to write a 1000 word essay on why they deserve our foreign aid. (including the UN)

Then pick the top ten and cease aide to the rest.

And add to that, each candidate has to donate 10% of his contributions to updating/re-doing the whole voting process.

OOOOH, OOOOH, I thought of another one . . .

. . . all those who have vowed to move out of the country if Bush is re-elected will be paddled out to sea in a canoe and left to make their way to whatever country they desire, within 24 hrs. of the election results (which God willing, we'll know tomorrow evening).

Win Or Lose, Do Good

Read: Titus 3:1-8

Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work. —Titus 3:1

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 27-29; Titus 3

When the results of today's presidential election are known, US citizens will either be glad or sad, depending on their political persuasion. Those who voted for the winner are likely to accept the authority of the government he establishes. Most others will submit, though grudgingly.

Christians are to go beyond mere submission to governing authorities and follow the guidelines given in the Bible. In writing to Titus, Paul said we should also be peaceable and considerate, and we should do good without slandering anyone (3:1-2).

Titus was working among believers in Crete, a place notorious for its unruly inhabitants. There were good reasons to say bad things about the people living and ruling there, but Paul warned Christians not to do it.

In fact, seven times in his short letter to Titus, Paul mentioned the importance of doing good: loving what is good (1:8), teaching what is good (2:3), doing what is good (2:7,14; 3:1-2,8,14).

Paul's letter is a timely reminder that as Christians we are to do what is good for people, regardless of whether we approve of their values and agree with their policies. It may not be easy, but it's the right thing to do. —Julie Ackerman Link

From the example of Jesus,
Who went about doing good,
We are to honor our Savior
By helping wherever He would. —Hess

Christians can be constructive if they refuse to be destructive.
