I just came from the Baederwood Theatre in Abington, PA where "Stolen Honor" was to be shown to an expected full-house. Upon arrival I was told that the theatre canceled the show due to called in threats of violence.
There were about 100 people milling around outside the theatre, mostly Bush supporters, when I arrived. The Bushies were rightly indignant that we couldn't see the film and the sKerry supporters were almost gleeful in their posturing.
One "vet for Kerry" was getting in the faces of many of the Bush supporters, and had to be separated by the police more than once. There were three television news crews recording the skirmishes between the two camps, and reporters jotting down their stories.
The filmmaker, Carlton Sherwood, was there and gave on-camera interviews. The reporters also took about a dozen interviews from both sides of the fence.
There was about a dozen "Vets For Kerry" there, most of them wearing uniforms. I noticed the cops making faces to them as if to say "aren't these Bush supporters a bunch of wankers?" There was one young man (about 19) holding a sign "jingoism doesn't work." Talk about a wanker.
The "Stolen Honor" people handed out DVDs and videos to anyone who wanted one.
This will be a big story on the local news tonight because of all of the heated arguments captured on film. For all in the Delaware Valley viewing area, Channel 6 News stuck around the longest. I'll post any articles from the local papers tomorrow.

I was there and the atmosphere was definitely charged. The cops stood with the pro-kerry vets, sniggering at us as if we were lobotimized idiots.
The kerry goons were in the faces of decent vets; these exchanges were captured by the press. I'm sure they'll be edited to show just how awful republicans (with their backs to the wall) behave.
There is a great civil-right case in the making here. People are being deprived of their right to assemble peacefully, in an organized manner. The democrat party is a criminally dominated organization, and should be taken off the planet.

Exactly what I was wondering! What IS the difference? Wonder if anyone has asked the protesters.
I have protested in DC several times during the last seven yrs with FR folks, protested downtown Indy (against Evan Bayh, while he was opposing MIguel Estrada's nomination) and I have NEVER EVER seen such nastiness as I did last Sat when I protested john kerry while he was speaking in my old hometown, Xenia, Ohio.
After his speech at the high school, as democrats were leaving, many turned their cars into the protester line (twenty five or so folks) along the roadway, acting as if they were going to strike us with their cars, and that isn't even counting the middle fingers and shouts of outrage and dirty, DIRTY words those liberal kool aid jerks were spouting.
The police got so worried that the protesters would actually be hit by one of the nasty liberals they actually had to re-route the exit from the parking lots around a community block, away from us.
IT WAS UGLY!!! (But I got my signs into kerry's face, well, at least his bus, hehe, coming and going! Felt great!)
I saw nothing that indicated it was the AUDIENCE that caved... it was the theater management... and who says they are Republicans? I kinda think we might find a DemocRat behind this sudden cancellation.
I didn't say is was centered just in Philly .. my point was this theater is near Philly and certain members of the Unions are known to cause trouble
Folks in Philly tend to joke about the Unions .. but they also know you don't mess with them
Did the owner of this theater lose his backbone?? .. Yes he did .. but I also understand that people are afraid
Never said we should roll over to the left .. my point was, we are smarter then the left and if we lose our temper, then we play right into their hands and they'll yell see .. see

Republicans better find, buy, or rent a backbone.. it can only get worse..

Whether or not I order a copy, the word 'appeasement' fits fairly well, I'd say!
