Statement from John O'Neil about ABC's Nightline with Ted Koppel Oct 14 [read last paragraph]
redstate.org ^ | Oct 15, 2004 | John O'Neil

The following statement from John O'Neil, member of Swift Boat Veterans and POW's for Truth, concerns a news segment that aired on October 14th on ABC's Nightline with Ted Koppel.

"While I have a tremendous amount of respect for Ted Koppel and ABC News I was appalled to learn that ABC News would go to the lengths of traveling to Vietnam to interview three Viet Cong communists in yet a third attempt by ABC to corroborate John Kerry's version of the events that took place on February 28th, 1969.

"I would only ask the American people: 'Who do you trust more, three members of a communist regime that tortured and killed our American troops or a group of more than 280 highly decorated American veterans, who proudly served their country and are now responsible members of their respective communities.

"The number of veterans who support John Kerry's accounts of his military service would not fill one Swift Boat. But instead of sitting down to interview some of the 280 plus members of our Swift Boat organization, ABC News chose to travel to Vietnam taking extraordinary and highly suspect steps to find someone to corroborate John Kerry's story.

"ABC News Nightline has now dedicated three seperate programs to this one incident while ignoring John Kerry's now discredited Senate testimony that he spent Christmas in Cambodia, his receiving a purple heart after all three of the officers required to approve such an issuance rejected his application, or his constantly changing account of the circumstances surrounding his remaining medal, a bronze star.

"Further, one has to wonder why ABC News will not address the serious questions as to why John Kerry only received an honorable discharge through the act of then President Carter, seven years after his discharge, and had to have all of his military citations reissued, on the same day, when he became a United States Senator in 1985. And, finally, why has Nightline found it of no interest to permit any POWs to come on their program to explain why they believe John Kerry betrayed their nation, caused them to be incarcerated for an additional two years and caused them tremendous additional hardship and suffering."

Helperin is obviously personal agenda driven and obviously not too smart. ABC should dump him fast if they want even a small amount of credibility. Otherwise they will be considered little more than Kerry's mouthpiece.

SwiftBoat Vets attacked by Ted Koppell.

Ted Koppell is employed by Halperin at ABC News.

Halperin issues ABC memo attack Bush - puf Kerry.

Halperin daddy employed by George Soros institution.

I watched Nightline program and from a military debrief perspective VC statements actually supported SwiftBoat Vets position.

It wasn't Kerry's brother, it was his cousin (not that it matters much).

From "Unfit for Command:"

The year after his (Kerry's) committee's vote to give Communist Vietnam a clean bill of health, the strangest thing happened. In December, 1992, Vietnam signed its first huge commercial deal, worth at least $905 million, to develop a deep-sea commercial port at Vung Tau to accommodate all the trade that was to come. At the time, the chief executive officer of this company was C. Stewart Forbes. Name sound familiar? It should. He is Senator John F. Kerry's cousin. What a coincidence!

For some time President Bush has been responding to questions about his NG record: "I received an honorable discharge."

In light of these recent developments.....Bush's response takes on even more significance!

Halperin's father works for George Soros, the wealthiest contributor and who probably has made the largest contribution of cash to Kerry/Edwards campaign funds other than the Trial Lawyers and the Corrupt Labor Unions.

Suprise, Surprise !!

Here is the information that you refer to:

Senator Kerry ordered POW evidence shredded for family profit.

This Kerry guy is a animal.

From - http://www.babylontoday.com/politics_2004.htm#powmia

Kerry was selected to chair the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs in 1992 in order to investigate the reams of evidence of American prisoners not returned from Vietnam. "Senator Kerry had another agenda, however. He wanted to clear all the impediments for normalizing relations with Vietnam."

"Kerry refused to interview key witnesses and ordered committee staff to shred important intelligence documents.

The shredding stopped only when some staffers protested. The committee's final report, issued in January of 1993, officially closed the issue for Congress."

"Shortly after, Vietnam announced it had granted a large real estate contract to Colliers International, based in Boston. The multimillion-dollar contract was for a massive modernizing of Vietnam's ports, railroads, and other infrastructure. Colliers International's CEO, C. Stewart Forbes, is John Forbes Kerry's cousin."

(Comment) KERRY STABS VIETNAM VETERANS IN THE BACK AGAIN. KERRY IS THE LOWEST SCUM ON THE EARTH THAT COULD EXIST.

"Why take the word of Communists over the word of 280 Vets?"

More importantly, Why take the word of Communists over Kerry's own autobiography? Ted lost all credibility. The show was a piece of sh*t. He looked stupid trying to get O'Neil to consider the statements of ABC's "eye witnesses" while ignoring what John Kerry wrote. And I think most Americans that saw the show (All 12 of us) will doubt that a few "Villagers" that lived through years and years of war remember that one day 35 years ago.

I wonder who provided the interpreters, the Vietnamese government?

O'Neill kicked Koppel's mangy ass all over the stage and Ted seemed to be astounded at the thought that the Commies would do anything to held Jean Fraud. But he couldn't pull the scam off and couldn't handle O'Neill's objections to being set up.

Funniest of all was that the Vietnamese version matched NO ONE'S not even Jean Fraud's. What an inept performance ABC gave last night. If that is the best the RATmedia can do W wins next month.

"It's not the evidence that matters, it's the story that is important and only 280 people are denying the story!"

The Stone-age press is in full Propaganda mode trying to stop America's victory over tyranny, once again! The only thing Flatline proved is what they are. Wonder how many American dollars those so called witnesses were paid??

Pray for W and Our Troops

Thanks for the link. Watched it twice.

Just explain to me, if you can, why do you think it is that a bunch of peasants in a truly remote part of southern Vietnam...would have such nice clothing.

Although the video wasn't crystal clear, everyone's clothes looked well-pressed...sleeves, collars, and pockets. It also looked like one woman was wearing earrings. And their hair was clean-cut, no ponytails or hats.

KERRY WILL BE OUTED-HIS RECORDS LEAKED, AND IT WILL HAPPEN BEFORE 02NOV.

And I would imagine it would happen very close to Nov 2, in order to not provide the communist media enough time to spin the story.

Koppel was made to look worse than a fool and the attempted attack on the Swifties was torpedoed. A colossal blunder by ABC which was shown clearly to be clueless, run by idiots and unaware that its program hurt Jean Fraud.

Their idiotic program showed Kerry to be a Liar if you believe its content. If you don't it showed ABC to be biased AND incompetent. Koppel is really stupid and O'Neill made that clear.

All in all a great show. Let's have some more Ted.

Notice that Ted tried the typical liberal tactic. He kept saying "peasants" over and over again, as if to garner sympathy for them. They are the downtrodden victims (never mind that they're commies) up against big bad O'Neill.

You know, if someone wrote a novel in which a big media outlet appeared so totally biased and so willing to lie for someone, no one would finish the book, believing it just a little too far fetched to be realistic. But it is exactly what we have. It defies belief they would find former Viet Cong to corroborate a story. None of them could possibly have any information that would add one iota of value to this story. ABC is stupefying in their audacity.

Are American news crews allowed to wonder around Vietnam asking questions without permission? And, would the Vietnamese government allow these villagers to say anything that contradicted their American hero, John Kerry?

O'Neill: Uh . . I thank you, Ted, for your courtesy. And I hope you'll cover the sampan and the other incidents and let our guys go on the show.

Koppel: Very good, sir. I'll be back with a closing thought.

I don't think Ted Koppel realized he was still on the air at this point. He looked visibly shaken as they went to break. John O'Neill is sharp. Ted Koppel never could get control of his interview and he realized he'd been bested.
