I wonder who provided the interpreters, the Vietnamese government?

O'Neill kicked Koppel's mangy ass all over the stage and Ted seemed to be astounded at the thought that the Commies would do anything to held Jean Fraud. But he couldn't pull the scam off and couldn't handle O'Neill's objections to being set up.

Funniest of all was that the Vietnamese version matched NO ONE'S not even Jean Fraud's. What an inept performance ABC gave last night. If that is the best the RATmedia can do W wins next month.

I agree. Koppel's program was as inept as Rather and his forged documents.

I've spent a lot of time in contemporary Vietnam, and I can assure you that Nightline went to the Delta with the full accompaniment of Communist Party translators, spies, and minders.

That is the way Hanoi works. Even today.

The Nightline press release on the topic - that first Hanoi said "no interviews" then "oh, OK, go right ahead and interview the locals" - is so transparently false that it's right up their with a Dan Rather statement. To wit, not plausible.
