No HDTiVos on the market yet, I'm sorry to say, Bogey.

Whoever processed the LGF video did a nice job. I've taken that video and done a bit more processing. I don't have a great deal more time to devote to it tonight, but after about ten viewings, my first impression is that it's almost certainly a folded piece of paper.

It's definitely not a pen, and A PDA cover probably wouldn't have the "spring" action that's visible here; he opens it up then has to flatten it. One thing's CERTAIN: He cheated. He most definitely brought something to the podium, when the rules are OH so clear on this issue.

If we can get access to an uncompressed version of the clip, we can get even sharper detail, but with what we already have, there's enough information there to establish a physical width of the object with pretty good accuracy, through photogrammetric analysis. (Time consuming and involves pricey, specialized software; by setting points on objects within the imagery, you build 3-dimensional wireframe models; with that done, you can input known dimensions for objects like the podium, then get interpolated dimensions for the unknown object.)

Tomorrow's booked solid for me, but I'm gonna try to work some more with it tomorrow evening.

MM

My comment on another thread:

Direct TV has a Tivo receiver. However they have limited channels.

That is why he was so busy taking notes. I remember thinking why is he taking so many notes. It was obviously a ruse to give Kerry opportunity to look at whatever it was.

How could he get rid of a PDA that would make it more difficult unless he palms up his sleeve. I wonder why he just didn't palm it if he was going to cheat.

I hope everyone in US watches this video to see what a scumbag Kerry is. No doubt he will come up with an excuse, but it is cheating

There is no telling how many times he practiced the maneuver (sp). How disgusting. Honestly, he is worse in many ways that Slick Willy

Incredible! He's fast and slick. You can also see him sliding whatever it was under the paper that was already placed on the desk (per the debate rules) by the moderator.

New York Post says that on Boston.com it is a black pen, I don't see how they can get that because something there is obviously white.

its only damming if the media pick up the story--its one thing to turn on each other but its another thing to turn against their political darling.

I couldn't tell a thing from it.

As he rounds the lectern you can see something in his right hand at the same time his left is reaching into his coat pocket. He pulls his left hand out as he turns to the lectern and then puts both hands on it. With both hands he lifts something up that has a straight edge across the top and is at least 4 or 5 inches wide and that extends above his hands by about an inch and a half. He moves his hands as though patting the edges to get a bunch of cards into horizontal alignment, smartly raps the top of the object or stack of cards with the right index finger as though to get them in vertical alignment, and then sets them down.

Still don't buy it. He'd have to be pretty freaking stupid to bring a cheat sheet or anything else like that into a televised debate. And we all know Kerry isn't stupid--just wrong.

Hey no big deal, personally, what is seen is not a "pen" and to admit that something was taken out of his pocket tells the man cheated.
