JEB FIGHTS BACK Mon Sep 27 2004 20:33:05 ET
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's office yesterday said charges by former President Jimmy Carter that the state is "likely" to have a repetition of the voting problems that plagued the 2000 election are politically motivated by Democrats intent on undermining voter confidence in the state.
The WASHINGTON TIMES's Joe Curl will report on Tuesday: State officials also said the former president made no attempt to get up-to-date information before writing an opinion piece and never tried to contact the governor's office or that of Secretary of State Glenda Hood.
"This is a shockingly partisan opinion piece and it's unfortunate that a person such as the former president is being used by the Democratic Party for low-level political rhetoric," said Jacob DiPietre, press secretary for Gov. Jeb Bush.
Developing...
Were you alive in the late 70s? Carter gave Iran to the Mullahs, who are now on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. His economic numbers were the worst since the Depression, and we were being humiliated in the Iranian hostage crisis.
The man was spineless.
Clinton was a terrible man, but his presidency was in no way worse than Carter's.
And killer rabbits.
Ooooh! I like that one.
They are setting it up for another challenge like Algore pulled. They have been planning this for years.
aye, nice.
Carter and LBJ are tied for the worst Presidents in my lifetime, and that goes back to vaguely remembering JFK.
LBJ was the first president to fight a "sensitive" war (Vietnam), where our guys weren't allowed to go all-out to beat the N. Viets, allowing the far-left and the MSM to take control of the war debate. He also expanded the welfare state by leaps and bounds, and began the inflationary period that only Ronald Reagan and Paul Volcker ended.
Carter can be fairly seen as the father of Islamic terorrism, as he was the first to give it a homeland of its own (Iran), knowing full well what the Ayatollah Khomeni was all about. He also presided over 13% inflation (in 1980), a 21% prime interest rate, 16% mortgages, and a feeling that we would never again be what we once were, both economically and as world leaders.
He was so bad that even the MSM, which had a near ironclad control over news in 1980, couldn't save him from the hated (by MSM) Ronald Reagan.
That would be pretty stupid, don't you think?
Freep Thread: Carter to Zell Miller
which in particular contains the following damning quote:
You seem to have forgotten that loyal Democrats elected you as mayor and as state senator. Loyal Democrats, including members of my family and me, elected you as lieutenant governor and as governor. It was a loyal Democrat, Lester Maddox, who assigned you to high positions in the state government when you were out of office. It was a loyal Democrat, Roy Barnes, who appointed you as U.S. Senator when you were out of office. By your historically unprecedented disloyalty, you have betrayed our trust. Great Georgia Democrats who served in the past, including Walter George, Richard Russell, Herman Talmadge, and Sam Nunn disagreed strongly with the policies of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and me, but they remained loyal to the party in which they gained their public office.
Carter is here admitting that Party loyalty comes before loyalty to country.
The only thing missing was the salutation "Dear Comrade:"

This is the man that certified the validity of the Venezuelan elections that kept Chavez in power.
Then we heard murmurs that perhaps he had been misled.
Idiot.
