Barack Obama, unraveling in Illinois? Still leads in poll of Chicago dead voters.
One small Voice

Posted on 09/24/2004 7:09:33 AM PDT by 1smallVoice

Each day that goes by has people asking 'Where's Obama?' The democrat candidate for Illinois Senate has been MIA as Alan Keyes has cris-crossed the state of Illinois exposing Obama's liberal voting record. People are starting to hear the truth and Obama is losing support downstate.

The Chicago dead still support Obama by a large margin.

Yeah, because he wasn't doing so well against Ryan. If you want to know what a politicians internal polls are telling him about the race look at how often he wants to debate. Remember how right before the RNC Kerry put out a demand for a debate a week. Remember when Gore did the same thing. The guy behind always wants more debates, and the guy ahead always wants less.

Until the debates actually happen they aren't a done deal. If Obama has any political savvy at all he'll find a way to get through this campaign without any debates, not because of how good Keyes is but because of raw political math. At this juncture the Keyes campaign is underfunded and under organized, the smart move by Obama is to avoid giving Keyes any shot at equal time. While he might lose some points for being chicken it won't be nearly as many as he risks for being brave.

I thought I saw Bush had cut the gap to 6%. Seems you are a liar or just ignorant, which is it?

As for Keyes, stay tuned. We have 6 weeks and nothing much happens until the end of October. Want to bet on Obama's margin of victory, you name it, 40%? I will take that bet.

Many of you have neglected the God factor, go ahead and laugh but He does not want babies killed, Obama does.

Bush cut his gap across the board. But the gap remained widest in Illinois. In NY and NJ he cut the gap to under 5. So it looks like the ignorant one is the guy who's in a rush to slander anyone that disagrees with him.

The real campaign season starts with Labor Day, any contest that isn't close (10 point margin) by October 15th is functionally over. If Keyes is laboring under the illusion that nothing much happens until late October he might as well go home to Maryland now, if he isn't scoring near 40% in the polls by Oct 15th there's nothing that can happen in late Octobedr to make his campaign look vaguely respectable.

Maybe you're over banking on the God factor. If God wanted Keyes to win I don't think Keyes would be losing 1 point a week. Could be God knows things about Alan Keyes you don't and has decided no matter who win this one it's a train wreck, so He's just sitting this one out.

Until the debates actually happen they aren't a done deal.

There's one scheduled for Oct 12th, another for Oct 21 by the League of Women Voters, another on Oct 26 by the City Club of Chicago

You have a lot of anti Keyes ya da ya da and are giving it to Obama. And you didn't even know there are going to be debates. Everyone knows that debates may be crucial, except you.

You sure you're in tune with FR? Doesn't sound like you belong here.

When one candidate is down by 45 points the debates won't be crucial. The gap will have to close by 15 points PER DEBATE for Keyes to win, that is simply NOT going to happen. And I'm still not convinced Obama won't find a way out of them. So they're scheduled, BFD, scheduling conflicts are easy to come by when you've got nothing to gain in the debate, which Obama doesn't.

I'm perfectly in tune with FR. I'm also in tune with REALITY, most of the Keyes people on FR currently are not only not in tune with reality they fear it and attempt to slander anybody that is in tune. Keyes is losing a point a week, he's pulling less than 1/4 of the people in the polls, it's over. He has already lost this election, an election he never should have signed onto in the first place. Illinois should have found someone local, and Keyes should have been a man of his word and not carpetbagged. And now they both get to reap the rewards for their incorrect actions.

A wager that Obama holds a 40% margin of victory?

Got any balls?

I did not think so.

Watch Obama fall, then you see God's hand. He looks like he is running scared to me.

Betting on election results is illegal, and we all know the internet isn't nearly as anonymous as people want to pretend it is.

Keyes is dropping at a point a week, maybe that's the hand of God telling you that when given the choice between a hypocrite and an abortionist you get to sleep in your own bed and don't come crying to Him to save you from yourself.

Why would Obama run scared? He's gaining in the polls, Keyes is losing, there is absolutely nothing to be scared of. What you "see" is your wishful thinking. Keyes is going to lose, and badly.

How's this for a wager? If Keyes wins, I will never post at FR again. If Keyes loses, you will never post at FR again. Are you willing to take that bet?

So you have given up on your 40% margin of victory, chickenshyt?

How much will Keyes cut into Obama by election day?

Answer my question now.

My predicition is that Obama will win by at least 30 percentage points, maybe as many as 35. What's your wager?

Uh, dude, this is my first post to you on this thread.

But LOL!!! anyway. I see how quickly even you backpedal against predicting a Keyes victory.

How much will Keyes cut into Obama by election day?

According to you, Keyes is going to win. Since you are so confident of God's hand acting to bring about Keyes's victory, you should have no problem taking my wager.

You aren't doubting, are you?

Please don’t post facts to a Keyes thread, folk are trying to stay on topic.

BTW, you’re right about there being no reason for Obama to debate, but I suspect he will both to cement relations with the press and defuse the issue for future campaigns. Noting his convention speech, and his profession, presuming he’s a lousy debater smacks of underestimating the opponent as well.

Given the nature of the accusations on these threads I think I’d leave God out of it.

You say in your profile page that "I am a born-again Christian, conservative republican".

And yet you post this:

So you have given up on your 40% margin of victory, chickenshyt? (#91, this thread)

Got any balls? (#86, this thread)

Seems you are a liar or just ignorant, which is it? (#82, this thread)

You are a good democrat, believe whatever you are told. (#67, this thread)

You do not sound like a Republican, you attack me like a democrat. (#82, on 9/22)

Honestly, how long have you worked for Obama? (#80, same thread as above)

You complain about personal attacks, but have no problem attacking those who disagree with you. And this is to your fellow freepers. In the past few days you have insinuated about Obama that: he is a closet Muslim, is gay, was a coke addict, and has been the recipient of some shadowy beneficiary. You provide no basis for any of this. These are exactly the sort of slime tactics we criticize the Democrats for. And you seem immune to any sort of reason, but instead keep typing out the same old libels.

I'm guessing weekday afternoon debates, preferably opposite Oprah, with just enough statewide TV and radio coverage to prove it happened and no national coverage. That way he can say he debated, but nobody will actually have watched.

I think the idea of God picking sides in a Senatorial campaign is almost as silly as the idea of God picking sides in a football game. But I've always thought that God's primary interaction with the goofy things humans obsess on, like politics, is to point and laugh. We provide proof everyday that God has a fine sense of humor.

"Keyes. Is. Insane."

Keyes is not insane, although he IS being aggressively misquoted to make him sound that way. The posted article is an example of that. I've read some of the actual transcripts of some of his "controversial" statements. They absolutely misrepresent what he was communicating. People who form their opinion of him based on articles like the one above might think he's insane. People who actually hear him speak are generally persuaded to think differently than they had previously (a rare gift) in one way or another.

He is very concise in terms of percieving and identifying the true issues behind the talking points. He's one of the few politicians who actually think for themselves and come to a reasoned conclusion that they can defend as opposed to simply "adopting" their opinions from their peers.

I think either your opinions of the man are based on what liberal reporters have told you about him rather than having heard him yourself, or, you're just a troll. I'm not completly sure, but fairly confident. Regardless, I think you seem to be amond those who simply adopt their opinions from their peers.

Why should people lose the right to vote just because they die?

Metabolically-challenged Americans have a true friend in the Democratic Party and John Kerry.

Kee-rist! He even LOOKS dead!

"Dead like us!" That's what we say about JF'nK!

It's not an article, I'd call it a fabrication. In fairness readers should completely dissociate Keyes from the thread....I think either your opinions of the man are based on what liberal reporters have told you about him rather than having heard him yourself, or, you're just a troll.

Leaving reporters aside, they can be trusted to misrepresent, however read the accusations on this thread and others like it. His supporters aren't doing him any favors.

Latest polls: 68-23. That's a 45% gap. Keyes is dropping like a rock. My estimate: he'll come in behind Kohn.

Leaving 9% undecided. They could break either way :>)

Polls aside, I can't imagine he'll actually lose by that much. With GWB improving, in spite of local help, I just can't see that many Bush voters splitting their ballot. It is a shame a better effort couldn't have been made to keep a Republican seat, a bigger shame if GWB loses Illinois by a small margin.
