Blogger Who Faulted CBS Documents Is Conservative Activist (L.A Times RATS out Buckhead!)
L.A Times ^

WASHINGTON It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.
But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

You gotta' cut CBS a little slack for their sloppy reporting here ... by their own admission, they only had FOUR YEARS to work on this story. Haste makes waste!!!!
To: traviskicks
Gee, we now know who buckhead supposedly is - but like when they sent 14 investigators after aHHnold and 1 part timer after grey-out Davis - they still have NOT found out who forged the document(s).
Isnt it a crime to forge a federal document? Oh, wait, I guess the person gets a pass because they were trashing Bush.

This is too funny...I would venture to guess that 99% of the freepers on here are "conservative activists". Nice try MSM...
To: A Navy Vet
Ive got and idea... how about all the frepper out there start mailing rolls of tinfoil to this reporter at the LA Times?

I think you're correct that to spot proportional spacing is not the mark of great technical acumen. However, it doesn't seem too much of an issue if you owned a PC before 1984. Men used to do strange things in the old days. Everybody wanted a $7000 Wang but a "normal guy" like me would own a Kaypro and use WordStar and spend hours to copy a pathetic prop spacing patch into 3.3 so he could control the universe, impress women, and kept faith with the CP/M operating system. OK, things didn't work out, but lots of people wanted attributes like kerning and proportional spacing and they weren't around in the Z80-type world at the time. It is not a big deal to spot these matters if you got into PC's soon after 1979.

Well, a previous article did mention that BuckHead spoke to the LA Times on this issue just after it broke. Perhaps he volunteered his name. Frankly, all I can say is big deal. Now that we know that Big Brother is watching us, we'll just have to be more careful about posting personal info about ourselves. Time to go DEEP undercover. LOL!

I hope he's doing okay. He may be keeping a low profile until this storm blows over.
I think if I were him I'd ask Jim for a new account name and retire Buckhead.

Extra Conservative SUV with back window obscured by funny lib hating bumper stickers and Bush/Cheney tags, with Yugo parts still dragging from under the frame. We drive a lot, not because we need to, just like to use the extra gas and assist with the whole global warming thing...
Autographed "Karl Rove" fuzzy dice and a Sat hookup on top so we can blog and drive at the same time.

Buckhead's batting a thousand. Must be killing the LA Times.I guess there's not much investigative journalism in the offing when it comes to uncovering forged docs. BUT...BUT, when it comes to investigative journalism to uncovering who blogger A is--especially one whose blowin' the whistle louder and earlier than the alleged professionals...THEN, of course, it's investigative journalism at its utmost!

It's a crying shame that so much effort is put into uncovering who a regular Citizen is and yet a presidential candidate is still so concealed.
If they would be half as dilligent in their investigation of sKerry then we'd all know a lot more about him...like what is in his military record.
