Check out the photo from yahoo. Only Kerry Supporters would do something so low.

Hmmm...I see by the evidence you just cleaned that rear windshield ;^)

That's the new family vehicle. The Wife loves it.
OH! You're talking about the bottle on the lower left? HA!

LOL The upside down sign!

I bet these poor folks were picked on relentlessly. Anyone who's seen a protest warrior video knows what I mean.

The little girl looks so sad and the father looks like he regrets taking her there. Don't get mad at me but I think the father was wrong for bringing his kids to that rally. He should have gone alone or brought a couple of buddies with him. I mean, what did he expect to happen? If I brought my Bush/Cheney sign to a dem rally, I would be looking for trouble. Thank God he and the kids didn't get hurt.

The union sent him there and probably filled him with liquid courage. They might have a pension fund just the right size to pay for a quality education for ten kids.

We took our 3 month old daughter to RR's last campaign stop prior to his first election (Nov-80) in San Diego. She wore a handpainted t-shirt that said "I happen to like Bonzo!" Her photo made the newspaper along with her Dad holding a sign that said "Peanuts half off".

If a union thug had of dared to touch her, or dad, trust me, the sign would have been placed in an area where the California sun doesn't shine.

Political rallies must remain safe for children and I, for one, will never be intimidated by the "hate America" crowd. I've actually driven around Maui for 10 days now with a W'04 bumper sticker and I have not been keyed as yet. If I catch someone in the act, it'll be one less vote for JF'nK here in Hawaii.

As the mother of a ultra Conservative teacher, and an aunt of three Conservative teachers....don't count on it. The tide is changing.

You do not know how RIGHT you are. I'm way behind on the thread right now because my daughter's teacher called. Long story short one of th things we were talking about was the kind of paper/notebook the 2nd grade reading teacher (my daughter's in 1st, but up in reading) requires. I commented about a notebook I had that I thought would fit the bill, until I look at the page size. She wants 8.5" x 11," my notebook is 8"x10.5" - the teacher's comment was along the lines of you found paper the same size the forgers couldn't find to fool Dan Rather?

I nearly dropped the phone I was laughing so hard.

And, yes, my daughter is in public school.

Okay, I'll probably get slammed for this, but WHAT WAS THE FATHER THINKING? Look, let's all agree that the union guy was a thug and and idiot and should be made to walk across a carpet of razorblades. Now, with that out of the way, let's look at the father's behavior here. The event was a rally for John Edwards and he decides to go there in what he knows is going to be hostile territory and campaign for Bush. He certainly has a constitutional right to do that and he certainly should hope that he'll be respected; BUT he should also know that he's running the risk of having a confrontation with a Kerry/Edwards supporter and probably a very loud and angry supporter.

So, knowing all that (and let's be honest he should know all that) he takes his three-year old daughter along. I'm sorry, but I would never take a three-year old into that kind of situation. The union guy was wrong and and a thug, but the father was an idiot.

This angle is even more telling. The Union thug next to them is CLEARLY happy about the turn of events. I hope this guy never procreates.

Where I live in NYS you can't find a Bush/Cheney sign anywhere. I have got to get to the Rep headquarters and put some up--I'm tired of seeing Kerry everywhere

I think that earlier up the thread, someone posted that this wasn't a rally. It happened at an airport where The Breck Girl was going through.

For all those saying he should not have gone, shame on you.

Educating your children in civic responsibility is a patriotic and noble venture.

Whether protesting or supporting a candidate in public, you should be safe, feel safe, and most of all, expect safety.

This is a PUBLIC airport. It used to be safe to go to places like these. And yes, in an earlier, more kinder America, I would have taken my kids to see the Presidential or Vice Presidential candidates of either party as a Civics lesson.

Here's the number 1 rated photo at Yahoo as of this posting:

Sophia Parlock, 3, cries while seated on the shoulders of her father, Phil Parlock, a supporter of President Bush (news - web sites), after a Bush-Cheney sign she and her father were holding was torn up by another person standing in the crowd that had gathered to greet Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. John Edwards (news - web sites), D-N.C., Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va. At right, is Alex Parlock, 11, Sophia's brother.
