To All
The little girl looks so sad and the father looks like he regrets taking her there. Don't get mad at me but I think the father was wrong for bringing his kids to that rally. He should have gone alone or brought a couple of buddies with him. I mean, what did he expect to happen? If I brought my Bush/Cheney sign to a dem rally, I would be looking for trouble. Thank God he and the kids didn't get hurt.
I agree with you.
I think that earlier up the thread, someone posted that this wasn't a rally. It happened at an airport where The Breck Girl was going through.
For all those saying he should not have gone, shame on you.
Educating your children in civic responsibility is a patriotic and noble venture.
Whether protesting or supporting a candidate in public, you should be safe, feel safe, and most of all, expect safety.
I know how the left operates firsthand from experience. Most that read FR have seen cases of it posted from time to time. Hell, I'm not sure that even most of the activists I know even know the tactics of these goons, as most don't counterprotest.
It's easy for us to be armchair QB's after the fact, especially if we've seen it first hand. I don't think the dad was wrong for it. It's not too much to ask, even from the goon squad to leave the kids alone.
I just wish he had some backup.
I guess I have a different take on this. I think the man probably had his children there, thinking they might be treated with respect by folks in his community with opposing views.
I guess he maybe thought that "peaceful demonstration" was what this country is all about. I'm sure he'll never make THAT MISTAKE again. In my opinion, the father looks disgusted that he underestimated the venom of the Kerry supporters (thugs).
That said, nomatter WHAT the circumstances....I don't care if I ran into the most rabid Kerry supporter, and they were screaming at me....if they had a child with them, they would be OFF LIMITS. That is the way Conservatives, as a whole, think. Some of those who support Kerry, obviously have no regard for children.
>I mean, what did he expect to happen?
Uhh, maybe that this is AMERICA and we all have the right to express ourselves??
Jeez, let me guess. When your daughter gets beat up by her abusive husband, it's her fault for making him mad, eh?
