The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Muslim group takes responsibility for 9-11: 'We are so sorry'

This September 11 marks the third unforgettable anniversary of the worst mass murder in American history.

After September 11, many in the Muslim world chose denial and hallucination rather than face up to the sad fact that Muslims perpetrated the 9-11 terrorist acts and that we have an enormous problem with extremism and support for terrorism. Many Muslims, including religious leaders, and "intellectuals" blamed 9-11 on a Jewish conspiracy and went as far as fabricating a tale that 4000 Jews did not show up for work in the World Trade Center on 9-11. Yet others blamed 9-11 on an American right wing conspiracy or the U.S. Government which allegedly wanted an excuse to invade Iraq and "steal" Iraqi oil.

I can't help but wonder how all these hurricanes might cause some geologic activity due to the appalachian limstone and caves etc. over the next several months. At least it will clear out any caches.

Pakistan said to have unearthed 9/11 style Al Qaeda memo

By Khalid Hasan

WASHINGTON: If suicide bombers come to America, they are likely to be carrying biological, chemical or nuclear weapons with them, according to an Al Qaeda memo discovered by Pakistani authorities, claims a report.

Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin, an online subscription intelligence news service, says that Pakistan President Pervez Musharaf, under heavy American pressure, has once again instructed his security and intelligence chiefs to focus on jihadi suicide volunteers – this time because of a memo showing they will be used to carry weapons of mass destruction.

The report says, “The President, himself under the constant shadow of militants threatening to assassinate him, reacted to a coded memo discovered during a recent raid on pro-Al Qaeda activists in Karachi, by sharing parts of the memo’s alarming contents with friendly governments. Topping the memo’s list stands the US, although European countries are also specified as preferred targets. Unlike many other discoveries of terrorist documents, this memo has an added factor causing more than the usual concern.”

The memo details a number of ideas and options for attacking the West with WMDs by using suicide volunteers. Related to this memo is a Spanish decision, voiced by Interior Minister Antonio Alonzo, to assign close to 2,000 security agents to a training and deployment programme on the danger of nuclear, chemical and bacteriological terror attacks. Information from Russia passed on to the Pakistani intelligence and security service, following the disaster at the Beslan school, has contributed even more tension to the situation. The Russians claim many of the so-called “Arab mujahideen” killed during the attack on the school had visited Pakistan and neighbouring Afghanistan on several occasions. Similar claims and information came from the UK where law-enforcement agencies are still in the midst of their recent anti-terror operation that began last month. Several of those apprehended in the UK are of Pakistani origin with strong ties to anti-Musharaf forces.

The report quotes a “well-connected source in Islamabad” as having told Western diplomats that he captured document included phrases not immediately and correctly analysed. One such phrase says: “Aamaliat b’anika.” It was later learned that “b’anika” actually means “Panica,” or “panic,” and “Aamaliat” means “operation.” Experts on terror attempts to hit the US with WMDs further analysed the sentence and associated it to a 1968 Hollywood production titled “Panic in the City.” The movie describes in detail a terrorist plan to build a nuclear bomb by using easily available materials and working in the basement of a Los Angeles home. In the movie, an agent sacrifices his life to fly the bomb away from the city to the open ocean where it explodes, sparing Los Angeles.

The report also quotes “supporters of Osama Bin Laden” to have said on “numerous occasions” that their chief had studied over the years a variety of Western fictional material, and it is quite possible this movie was one of the Hollywood productions he actually viewed. In recent years, several TV and movie productions dealt with similar scenarios, such as in the TV series “24” and the movie titled “The Sum of All Fears.” According to the report, “Interest in suicide bombers who may be carrying WMDs has increased since the discovery of the memo and evidence of a possible Pakistani terrorist connection to Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt. Western intelligence agencies are convinced Pakistan is now the No. 1 producer of jihadi suicide candidates and that many of Pakistan’s madrassas and militant mosques are hosting an ever-growing number of Muslim foreigners. The presence of non-Pakistanis in the militant milieu of many mosques and religious schools, mostly those near and in the Peshawar region, is a reason for major concern. Recently Pakistani mullahs and imams have begun to describe suicide attacks in India in terms such as ‘a three-year success story,’ making it clear to their disciples suicide bombings are a morale booster to the larger Muslim world.”

True!

Though I have a hard time imagining any relationship between Russia and Israel lasting a very long time.

My kin is not to far from where you were in Jasper and they are still without power

I just arrived home in Pocatello at 8:30 MDT Saturday night. My arrival at Salt Lake City to return the rental car occurred at 8:30 PM Friday night. Childersburg, AL to Salt Lake City, UT in just under 48 hours.

It was a tough drive, but I think it was the right decision. My wife picked me up at the Salt Lake City airport at 8:45 PM and stayed at a Holiday Inn for the night. Our plans to attend the Crossroads Gun Show were retained. It was a good finish to a long trip.

I hope your family is doing Ok in Jasper. I'm wondering how the folks in Childersburg faired. The hotel was just plain flimsy.

Moreover, we will not stop at this point, but will pursue this evil force to its own lands, invade its Western heartland, and struggle to overcome it until all the world shouts by the name of the Prophet and the teachings of Islam spread throughout the world."

I really wish more people would study history. You know who you are. If there had been the same irrational attitude during WWII toward the Nazis [Only "some" Nazis are bad] as we have toward the Islamics [only "some" islamics are bad], we'd have never won WWII. Until folks recognize the enemy for what it is, a cult that wants domination over the entire world and the deaths of infidels, we are doomed to defeat. And all the PC bury your head in the sand pacifism will do you no good.

Have you noticed that every time Arab Muslims have their backs to the wall in a losing position due to a conflict they initiated, they immediately proclaim they are willing to negotiate?

I think the Arabic word for this practice is hudna. A "timeout" to re-arm when they realize they are at a disadvantage.

The water will definitely flush out the cave systems. However, the rupture zones for faults is far deeper within the crust than what the water will effect.

And then there is this one, which was probably already discussed here, before it hit the foreign news services, but it still didn't hit the US ones. (Apparently it was broken by John Farrah of WorldNetDaily in his G@ newsletter)

Unfortunately, the ones being kidnapped for the most part are unaware of that need....

I teach a fair number of folks how to defend themselves with a handgun. After I go through my list of awareness tips (listed on the main page of the TM) I always caution all my students that in the event of a worse case scenario, in that you get taken unawares and are overcome, if you are conscious, you must do whatever it takes to avoid being forced into a vehicle. If this happens you are likely raped (if female) and murdered. NEVER get in the car! No matter what you have to do, don't get in that car. Especially if the perps are terrorists. They are unlikely to put you into the trunk of a vehicle without searching you. I say this because it has happened in the past where nutcases have kidnapped women and dumped them into a car trunk where the victim retained control of her .38sp snubnose revolver. When her "rapist" opened the trunk to collect his "goodies" he got sent to his just reward with five bullets center mass of the chest. This is unlikely to happen in a case of terrorist kidnapping.

This means, if you are armed open fire. Do not "double tap!" Everybody get's "firsts" before anybody get's "seconds!" Start with whomever is closest OR whomever is most heavily armed. If you carry a gun, carry at least one reload. I always carry two. Don't stop until the threat is neutralized or you run out of ammo. Don't get into the car, under any circumstances!

If you're not armed....Don't get into the car! This means it's going to get a bit scarier and more dangerous. Probably life threatening. Make your decision now--is it worth it to sacrifice your life if you get to choose the place, time and method? Meaning you get this choice: Die fighting for freedom or die helpless as you await the beheading that is sure to befall you in the case of a terrorist act.

Also you must commit yourself to truly brutal actions. If you are unarmed, let somebody get close. It doesn't matter if they're armed. Your first strike must be guaranteed to not only debilitate the target, it must be brutal and bloody enough to literally shock the others for a moment. Long enough for you to get hold of a gun and open up. I can't tell you what to do, it is situational in nature. Ram a finger into an eye socket deep enough to make the eyeball explode (sorry to be graphic Donna Lee Nardo) or ram a fist into the throat such that it shatters the adams apple--better if you can actually rip the Adams Apple from the throat. Also consider ripping off an ear. This is easier than it sounds. Just do not allow yourself to be forced into a vehicle against your will!

Thank you for the excellent article 'Is the US suspicious of Pakistan?' I found the following part interesting:

The final straw came in the Friday Times of Lahore -- it seems even the Muslim community in the US is beginning to bad-mouth the Pakistanis now.

Riaz Khan, a member of the Muslim community of Houston, complains: 'I fully blame expatriate Muslims, mainly those from Pakistan. These people want to live in America but on their own terms, which means turning America into Pakistan. Instead of upgrading themselves, they have downgraded the US. These Pakistanis do not integrate with non-Muslims and their disgust for America is just unbelievable.'

'They are earning in America but criticising, hating and cursing the country! Before 9/11 things were different, on every corner mosques were opening up, not for religious purposes but to bring families over from Pakistan as preachers. Their sole objective was to collect funds in the name of Islam during sermons filled with hate against Jews, Christians and Hindus. They are the one who are blackening the face of Islam.' (snipped)

Sentiments like this are too rare and probably too late.

Iran tests long-range missile as UN watchdog reviews N-programme

TEHRAN: Iran was due to test fire a long-range missile on Saturday amid an ongoing review by the United Nations watchdog of the country’s atomic energy programme because of fears that Tehran might be developing nuclear weapons.

Iranian state television said Iran’s Revolutionary Guards would test fire the missile during military manoeuvres being watched by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khomenei.

Short- and medium-range missiles were test-fired on Friday. “The most important part of today’s programme is the firing of a long-range missile on mock enemy positions,” the television said.

Iran’s state-controlled media has given extensive coverage to the manoeuvres in the western part of the country. The officially stated purpose of these exercises is to “test and evaluate new equipment”, try out “modern tactics” and maintain the “spirit of jihad and defence”.

Saturday’s report said the missile was a “strategic” one, a term that normally refers to weapons systems designed to strike an enemy at the source of its power, such as cities, factories, military bases, communications and transport. The report gave no details on the range or capabilities of the missile.

In August, Tehran tested an enhanced version of its medium-range Shahab-3 missile, which is derived from the North Korean No-dong missile reportedly capable of carrying a 1,000 kilogramme warhead.

The Shahab-3 was deployed with the Revolutionary Guards air arm in July last year. Although the missile has been paraded with the banner “Israel should be wiped off the map”, Iran says it is purely defensive. The Israeli daily Haaretz recently wrote that the upgraded version had a range of 2,000 kilometres, whereas the previous version was believed to have a range of 1,300 to 1,700 kilometres.

Whatever the case, the missile is well within the range of Israel, which lies only some 800 kilometres west of Iran. (snipped)

Dr. Anthrax and Dr. Germ requested in return for hostages:

“The Tawhid wal Jihad is giving a 48-hour deadline for the release of all our sister detainees from Abu Ghraib prison (outside Baghdad) and Umm Al Qasr (in the south), publicly.

“Otherwise, we swear by God, the one and only, that these three prisoners will get nothing from us except beheading, so that they will serve as a lesson to others,” he said.

The speaker, who stood behind the hostages, did not give the number of female inmates whose release is being demanded from Abu Ghraib, the notorious facility at the centre of a scandal over US soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners, and from Umm Al Qasr jail.

Two high-profile women, Huda Salih Mahdi Amash, known as Dr Anthrax, and Rihab Taha — Dr Germ — are known to be detained in Abu Ghraib prison west of Baghdad. Both are biologists who are suspected of having contributed to an illegal weapons programme under Saddam Hussein. (snipped)

THAT is the 1000 kiloton question! Are they ranging Israel....or will it qualify as an sub-orbital vehicle to target OUR cities?
