Unfortunately, the ones being kidnapped for the most part are unaware of that need....

I teach a fair number of folks how to defend themselves with a handgun. After I go through my list of awareness tips (listed on the main page of the TM) I always caution all my students that in the event of a worse case scenario, in that you get taken unawares and are overcome, if you are conscious, you must do whatever it takes to avoid being forced into a vehicle. If this happens you are likely raped (if female) and murdered. NEVER get in the car! No matter what you have to do, don't get in that car. Especially if the perps are terrorists. They are unlikely to put you into the trunk of a vehicle without searching you. I say this because it has happened in the past where nutcases have kidnapped women and dumped them into a car trunk where the victim retained control of her .38sp snubnose revolver. When her "rapist" opened the trunk to collect his "goodies" he got sent to his just reward with five bullets center mass of the chest. This is unlikely to happen in a case of terrorist kidnapping.

This means, if you are armed open fire. Do not "double tap!" Everybody get's "firsts" before anybody get's "seconds!" Start with whomever is closest OR whomever is most heavily armed. If you carry a gun, carry at least one reload. I always carry two. Don't stop until the threat is neutralized or you run out of ammo. Don't get into the car, under any circumstances!

If you're not armed....Don't get into the car! This means it's going to get a bit scarier and more dangerous. Probably life threatening. Make your decision now--is it worth it to sacrifice your life if you get to choose the place, time and method? Meaning you get this choice: Die fighting for freedom or die helpless as you await the beheading that is sure to befall you in the case of a terrorist act.

Also you must commit yourself to truly brutal actions. If you are unarmed, let somebody get close. It doesn't matter if they're armed. Your first strike must be guaranteed to not only debilitate the target, it must be brutal and bloody enough to literally shock the others for a moment. Long enough for you to get hold of a gun and open up. I can't tell you what to do, it is situational in nature. Ram a finger into an eye socket deep enough to make the eyeball explode (sorry to be graphic Donna Lee Nardo) or ram a fist into the throat such that it shatters the adams apple--better if you can actually rip the Adams Apple from the throat. Also consider ripping off an ear. This is easier than it sounds. Just do not allow yourself to be forced into a vehicle against your will!

Iran tests long-range missile as UN watchdog reviews N-programme

TEHRAN: Iran was due to test fire a long-range missile on Saturday amid an ongoing review by the United Nations watchdog of the country’s atomic energy programme because of fears that Tehran might be developing nuclear weapons.

Iranian state television said Iran’s Revolutionary Guards would test fire the missile during military manoeuvres being watched by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khomenei.

Short- and medium-range missiles were test-fired on Friday. “The most important part of today’s programme is the firing of a long-range missile on mock enemy positions,” the television said.

Iran’s state-controlled media has given extensive coverage to the manoeuvres in the western part of the country. The officially stated purpose of these exercises is to “test and evaluate new equipment”, try out “modern tactics” and maintain the “spirit of jihad and defence”.

Saturday’s report said the missile was a “strategic” one, a term that normally refers to weapons systems designed to strike an enemy at the source of its power, such as cities, factories, military bases, communications and transport. The report gave no details on the range or capabilities of the missile.

In August, Tehran tested an enhanced version of its medium-range Shahab-3 missile, which is derived from the North Korean No-dong missile reportedly capable of carrying a 1,000 kilogramme warhead.

The Shahab-3 was deployed with the Revolutionary Guards air arm in July last year. Although the missile has been paraded with the banner “Israel should be wiped off the map”, Iran says it is purely defensive. The Israeli daily Haaretz recently wrote that the upgraded version had a range of 2,000 kilometres, whereas the previous version was believed to have a range of 1,300 to 1,700 kilometres.

Whatever the case, the missile is well within the range of Israel, which lies only some 800 kilometres west of Iran. (snipped)
