Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry traveled by bus across Ohio Friday. Kerry held a "front porch" discussion at the home a laid-off worker in Newark. Kerry spoke to about 75 people in a neighborhood of modest, one-story homes and then later held a campaign rally in the town described as a mix between blue- and white-collar workers. A Kerry spokeswoman says Newark was chosen in part because it has lost jobs, making it a good place for Kerry to tout his program for creating new ones. Kerry told people they had to be part of the solution and not get frustrated. Ohio's job losses are a key issue in the swing state. Kerry also focused on his opponent's track record, saying that President Bush didn't keep the promises he made as a candidate four years ago and pledged to do better if elected. Kerry summed up Bush's convention speech in four words: "All hat, no cattle." "This president and the Republican Party will say anything and do anything to get re-elected, anything except take care of middle-class families that are struggling in this country," Kerry said. Kerry referred to Friday's report of slower-than-expected job growth as one example of Bush's failed promises and said, "I don't think this is something to celebrate." Smarting from criticism at the Republican convention of his military record in Vietnam and his fitness to be president, Kerry lashed out at Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. "If you think America four years later is moving in the right direction, if you think your lives are better, you go vote for George Bush," Kerry told the group gathered on the front lawn of Mark and Debbie Bickle's pale yellow, ranch-style house. "But if you think we can do better, we want you to join this cause and change the direction of this country," the Democratic presidential candidate said. Polls show Kerry and President Bush virtually tied in Ohio. Bush is scheduled to arrive in Cleveland tonight.
And Kerry is all gas, no beans.
First sensible thing he's said in weeks.
What the heck is that supposed to mean?
Uhh, source, AP?
All hat, no Cambodia.
The old middle class routine begins. Class warfare is the only thing these socialists know. He should have handed out thousand dollar bills to these laid off workers. Then we'd know he cared. (right)
Someone should tell Kerry to check his back...
I think I see evidence that a stampede went right over him while he was writing his speech. It also looks like he swallowed some BS because that's all that's coming out of his mouth right now.
Dear Lord, there's nothing more pitiful than watching an East Coast lightweight political hack try to speak Texas lingo in OHIO of all frickin' places.
Someone start the popcorn before this meltdown is over!
Well golly-gee, Senator. Thanks - but I don't need your permission.
Did he praise Ohio's Wolverine Football team? What a jackass.
The end is neigh. Shortly after pat buchanan started selling out what few principles he had to his favorite Marxist, his campaign rallies started having this folksy touch. I remember one of this jihadists here on FR who was all a-giggle because they had hosted a buchanan rally...in their garage.
Yes, I wasn't polite and asked if it was a one car garage or did they have plenty of room to spread out.
Kerry--All chin--No brain (or else he wouldn't mention Vietnam and the Swift Vets every chance he gets...When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging.).
All medals, no reasons.
75 people?
Now there's a saying you expect to hear out of Massachusetts. What a fraud!
All hat and no cattle!! Thats great. Who writes this stuff?
Kerry is melting, and I get to watch.
