Who Will Be the Republican Presidential Candidate in 2008?

Posted on 08/25/2004 11:26:45 AM PDT by French-American Republican

What politicians are seen as likely contenders for the Republican nomination? Who is most likely to get the nomination? Who would you like to see as the candidate? Should Cheney run? Is Cheney planning to run?

Senator Santorum is my #1 candidate right now.

I don't care for Rudy... though he showed great leadership as NYC mayor, he has espoused some RINOish positions.

I'm figuring Hillary.

At this point it's your choice between either slow or fast pace to Socialism.

Either way, both parties are taking us there.

Ron Paul will never be elected President. And I think that's a good thing. He makes a great gadfly - the conscience of the House, etc.

Bottom line: Ron Paul thinks it is wrong to attack enemies preemptively. It might satisfy his strict construction to fight al-Qaeda in the streets of Houston, but it's not what we need.

Republican party organization virtually dictates that the candidate who has the strongest precinct level operation in place in early primary and large population states WILL win the nomination.

Jeb's chances of winning would revolve entirely on george's approval rating in 2008.

Rob Portman from Ohio is a possible choice.

As for Jeb Bush, I wouldn't support him under any circumstances.

Any at all.

Are you calling me John Kerry? Hah! Just because I am of French ancestry does not mean I have anything to do with John Kerry or Euro-socialism at all for that matter!!

Really? Dennis Hastert seems to be the most anti-tax Republican House speaker in modern years... Aside from Bush's pandering to socialized welfare, is there any evidence of socialist leanings in the GOP?

Probably whoever takes over for Cheney when he steps down half way through Bush's second term... I'd like to see Condi, being that national security will still need to be our 1st priority and a National Security Advisor is probably a good bet.
