Who Will Be the Republican Presidential Candidate in 2008?

Posted on 08/25/2004 11:26:45 AM PDT by French-American Republican

What politicians are seen as likely contenders for the Republican nomination? Who is most likely to get the nomination? Who would you like to see as the candidate? Should Cheney run? Is Cheney planning to run?

"Or Condi Rice and let's watch the big Hillary melt-down..."

I think that is a capital idea!

Don't get me wrong, I like Jeb.
I think it would remind some people of a dynasty... imagine the media reaction!

I love the idea of Jeb - capable, plus it would REALLY send the RATS into a spin! Three Bush's? Twelve (or 16) years of a Bush president? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! I think Condi's a great choice, too. Maybe VP? She has stated that she wants the SOS job if it comes open, but after a few years doing that, and she might decide moving up was OK.

I'll support the first person who figures out how to ban these stupid "Who's gonna win the nomination in 2008?" vanity threads.

Is it just me, or do they pop up at least 2-3 times a week.

*rolls eyes*

As much as I would lvoe to see Condi go up gainst HRH Hillalry!ous, she has repeatedly disavowed a run.

It will go Just like this.

Rudy will begin his quest for Her NYSenate seat with his speech at the convention.

Rudy will beat her in 2006, She will be the Dem Nominee anyway, and that will Prompt the inevitable Calculus.

To wit: No Dem can win the White House without NY's Electoral Votes, making Rudy the President in 2008.

Either a Jeb Bush - McCain ticket...

Or if they can talk Condi Rice into it... Jeb Bush - Rice ticket.

McCain would like to be President, but I don't think he can win the primaries. He just isn't conservative enough for most Republicans. McCain could run on the Democratic ticket, which could put him in the front running against a Republican candidate. But I somehow doubt that the Democrats would seriously consider someone who doesn't have an ultra liberal voting record.

McCain would be better off making sure that everyone in the Republican primaries knows that he is available to be a VP candidate.

Give Condi 4 years and she may change her mind. She's obviouly not going to let the cat out NOW and have the press pick on and defame her for four years in advance.

I'm with you -- Tommy Franks would be a perfect choice.

Thanks for asking. I've been asking this myself and no one seems to have a REAL answer. I don't think it is too early to start thinking about it.
