No mayday, from either plane.

Of course we don't know that yet now do we? Guessing the cause of a plane crash within minutes of it happening is rarely right. Plenty of airliner accidents have happened and a mayday call was never sent. Sometimes the pilots are too busy with the problem to send the call.

There are a lot of possibilities that are as likely or more likely than a coordinated terrorist attack successfully downing two jets in Russia.

Why do you think it's so implausible? After all, a coordinated terrorist attack successfully downed FOUR jets here just under three years ago.

At this point I'd not only say "bombs," but AQ, for this reason: No warning. No taking credit. Designed NOT to be spinnable as an accident, but they love to watch governments TRY to spin sabotage as accidents anyway, because that is the reflexive response.
