The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Nice analysis of the map portion . . . I was studying that last night and I knew it had to be a map, but I couldn't get the fix on it . . . you are dead on, it's the northern U.S. border . . . the way the lines are drawn, it seems like something went or is going over the Canadian border through Idaho and something else in eastern Montana . . . could the "buildings" be train cars or trucks - looks like they have wheels . . .

I'm so glad you posted what Judge Young said at Richard Reid's sentencing hearing. One of my family read that at the gathering we had when my cousin shipped out for Iraq. It still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes.

Looks to me like a map of the Northwestern portion of the United States

Do you suppose they are targeting sight seeing river boats on the Columbia River? They must be getting desperate. River boats are limited in the number of passengers they can carry.

Could very well represent the northern border. Looking specifically at the two indicated ports of entry, one potentially being Porthill, Idaho and the other potentially Whitetail, MT, each of these has an "international" airport at the border. Eckhart Airport in Porthill and Poplar Airport in Whitetail. Both are remote border crossings. And probably very porous.

I'm so GLAD to know that within HOURS the "authorities" were able to so quickly determine that it was not related to terrorism. From the link: "The Joint Terrorism Task Force was also called in, though now it is not believed to have been related to terrorism. The FBI said there is no public health concern because of this incident."

Sheesh... I'm off to do some research into what OTHER uses there are for this chemical compound.

Not anymore. Within the past month I came across the border from Canada into Montana.

Customs was very thorough; they spent time checking out information on their computers, and surprisingly, had a large staff on duty. No more waving you through like they used to do.

I am sure customs has become much more thorough at accessible crossing points. But what about the ones that are more remote?

I just spoke to a very good friend last week who lives only about an hour south of the Canadian border. While out on a "4WD only" accessible road up near the border, they were passed by a vehicle with Canadian plates, heading south. I may be wrong, but I doubt seriously the Canadian vehicle had to pass through any type of inspection. I'm afraid our borders are more porous than we think.

I just did a search for railroad lines in the northwest. The line from Canada going south through western Washington into western Idaho matches the location of a railroad line. My guess is the bad guys will or have employed a container from a cargo ship that is moved to a railroad car to bring a bomb into the U.S. The available railroad paths take such cargo right past my home in the Pocatello area.

I tried to find a suitable link to post that shows the maps with the railroad lines, but most of this is offered with online "viewers" that aren't suitable to include inline here.

nw, I posted that same article a few days ago. Near the end of the story, the Emergency Management Agency says they are waiting to receive request from the local agencies.

Perhaps we should compile a list to give to our local agencies. We have some great resources/information on personal protection, but I haven't seen much on what the LEO's and first responders may need.

To me the picture represents the water as the great lakes area. The land area when looking at the drawing from right to left...the state of Maine could the part of the drawing on the very right.

I believe that the BP refinery blast in Whiting, Indiana was Aug. 13th and the refinery is located on Lake Michigan. "BP said a blast at its 420,000-barrel-a-day Whiting refinery, the nation's third biggest, had closed a petroleum product processing unit...."

That was what I thought when I first saw the pic: I saw the tiny twin bumps at the right as possibly Maine. Glad to hear someone else saw that too. Yet the two states others identified as possibly Idaho and Montana also seem likely.

I didn't have to dig far to find a company, "Chromatic India Limited, which specialises in manufacturing Reactive dyes based on Vinyl Sulphone & Cyanuric Chloride." If my racial profiling skills are correct, wasn't the guy involved in the accident Indian?

Now I'm wondering what the uses are for reactive dyes...
