The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Police Secure Businesses on Terror Alert
NEW YORK - Police searched trucks, blocked streets and posted machine-gun toting officers outside financial landmarks Monday, a day after the government's chilling warning that terrorists might target the buildings with bombs.

The government can halt security gap updates all it wants, but when security is compromised by those guarding these facilities, construction issues are known to be inadequate, the media publishes from its wealth of databases, and the internet provides birds-eye-views of these sites as well as background information to anyone seeking it, perhaps more needs to be done than just clamming up.

Bomb Scare Temporarily Closes Cruise Ship Terminal (Disney Cruise - August 5, 2004)

POSTED: 11:55 am EDT August 5, 2004 UPDATED: 2:28 pm EDT August 5, 2004 PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- A port terminal for a Disney cruise ship was briefly evacuated Thursday after a bomb-sniffing dog gave an alert while inspecting supplies being loaded aboard.

About 330 passengers were aboard Disney Wonder when the terminal at Port Canaveral was ordered closed at 9:25 a.m., Disney spokeswoman Rena Langley said. Passengers aboard the ship were asked to stay on the 964-foot vessel while those in the terminal were moved to a parking lot.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Officer bomb squad inspected a stack of mattresses on a pallet, and declared the area secure about 80 minutes later.

There was no indication why the dog, part of a private security firm contracted by the Canaveral Port Authority, gave the false positive. Sheriff's Lt. Vic DeSantis speculated that the pallet may once have held something that created the illusion a mattress hid an explosive device.

The Wonder had returned earlier Thursday from a four-day Caribbean cruise. Its next departure, scheduled for later Thursday, was not expected to be delayed.

1) The Hubble Telescope is like a Keyhole satellite pointed the wrong way. Is this like SETI, with the radar dishes looking for signs of intelligent life in the universe, but pointed the other direction (at earth) instead?

2) can the sensory array permeate tin foil?

The WWIII scenario in Pat Frank's Alas Babylon! was started by an errant heat seeker fired by a US jet too near a Soviet port; it missed the intended target [a soviet jet] and went after a train funnel instead, taking out the port.

I'll look into it and see what I can find out. but I can tell you I don't personally know of anyone suffering from the Symptoms described nor have I heard of anyone, and I havent heard anything on the news. But I will call a few health care professionals I know and see if there appears to be a problem brewing!

They searched a house and home of an emergency room doctor!

New Developments in Anthrax Letters Case

(New York-WABC, August 5, 2004) — Federal officials are searching locations in Ocean County, N.J., and Wellsville, N.Y., as part of their investigation into the anthrax letters sent following the September 11th attacks.

Agents descended on a house in Chadwick Beach, an inlet in Ocean County, just after noon. The small house, with a sand front lawn and beach chairs in the rear, is on a quiet, two-block long street.

Agents are also searching in Wellsville, N.Y., just outside Buffalo area. The locations in Wellsville, in rural Allegany County, are the home and apartment of an emergency department doctor.

State and local officials have been advised of the searches to assure them there is no public health risk.

The searches, conducted by the FBI and U.S. Postal Service, are part of the ongoing investigation of anthrax-laced letters mailed in September and October of 2001.

The investigation is being run out of the Washington field office of the FBI, using agents from both the Buffalo and Newark field offices.

Health officials out of Washington are also involved.

Suspicious Container Prompts Metra Evacuation (Chicago - August 15th)

Suspicious Package Call Deemed 'False Alarm'

POSTED: 12:54 pm CDT August 5, 2004 UPDATED: 1:01 pm CDT August 5, 2004 CHICAGO -- A suspicious container found on a South Shore passenger train Thursday morning, prompting the evacuation of the commuter train due in the Loop, turned out to be a "false alarm."

Crew members on Train 108 notified security when they found a plastic container in the rear vestibule of the last car on the train due at Randolph Street Station at 7:35 a.m., according to a release from the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, which operates the South Shore line.

Passengers were evacuated from the train at Van Buren Street station, and taken to Randolph Street by a following train, the release said.

Metra police and Chicago Fire Department officials determined that the container held a solution used to clean passenger cars, and the suspicious package call was deemed a "false alarm," the release said.

Operators of the South Shore Line, employed by NICTD, had recently completed Homeland Security training by the National Transit Institute, the release said. There were no delays to any other Metra trains, a spokeswoman there said. Link to Article

The book was written in something like 1955. How does this apply now? Also they would have been speaking of a sidewinder air to air missile, much different from a MANPAD style device. Great book, my wife teaches from it in her American Lit course, but it's fiction right?

I had the same "humorous" reaction to the project until I saw the empirical evidence. It speaks for itself.
