Credit: The Cabal The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger. "Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix." We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. I'm hoping it is the first as well. It would be prudent to raise the threat level right before a major mopping operation.
But Killer Whales did take out a boat with a family on it, and the family said it appeared deliberate. And it wasn't a small boat... don't remember the size though. I listened to the book on tape, called "Survive the Savage Sea."
DC, I really don't know. ExSoldier had to log off because of a storm, but when he gets back online he might know.
It sounds like this guy, Hoosein, did mighty well for himself since coming here. Is it that common for an immigrant from Bangladesh, no less, to have enough money (even after the hard work of a few years) to be laundering large sums. Wouldn't it stand to reason that the money was coming from somewhere else than this pizzaria and rentals?
I know we have a lot of immigrants that come in and work 24 hrs a day to make it. I'm just questioning, having enough money for this laundering scheme to originate as "his" money. Didn't the money have to come from some other source, like the mosque members? Perhaps a bunch of them are actually in on it.

Recently there was a story about the large dollar volume of real estate being bought here in the United States by Saudi invesors.
All these terrorists need places to live. They need fake businesses to work at every day, so they can appear legitimate. Hypothetically:
Saudi money buys real estate - everything from rental housing units, to hotels and motels, to office complexes, to storage unit facilities, to warehouses, to high-rises, to gas stations, etc...
The terrorists cross the Mexican border and go to their assigned Mosque, where they are met by their handlers, who set them up in housing and in a fake business... How many of you have seen a small photocopy shop on a street that appears to have NO viable business traffic? They eat, sleep, and work amongst themselves, which is why no one ever reports their suspicious behavior:
They go their fake business in the daytime, read their encrypted internet postings and emails for their assignments. They use their photocopy and passport photo business to make fake documents, including ID cards to get into secure buildings, airports, etc. In the evenings, they go buy another two bags of fertilizer at the local store and take it to their storage unit. The next night, they go buy another couple gallons of diesel fuel and take it to the warehouse. On the weekend, they go to their warehouse and work on assembling the bomb.
Because they own ALL of these businesses and properties, except for the fertilizer store, they don't have any landlords or neighbors or co-workers who might otherwise report their suspicious behavior.
The day before the attack, they transport all of the fertilizer to the warehouse and finish the bomb. No one reports them missing from work because they all work for each other.
They load the bomb into one of their large trucks and head to the target. They drive into the basement of the high-rise building using the fake ID they have made. Kaboom.
Everyone take a look in your areas for small businesses run by ME's that have virtually no business traffic. You'll see.
Excellent insight. Thank you.
And the "Iraqi Army Officer" angle may be just one tiny piece of why our Administration was so firmly intent on going after Iraq after Afghanistan.
Maybe, just maybe, the reason THIS Administration hasn't admitted OK City was ME terrorism is because they are doing a "noble" thing in trying to protect the PREVIOUS Administration's reputation (reputation? try to contain your laughter).... i.e., they don't want to come out and blatantly say "the Clinton Administration blew it with OK City."
Maybe there is a secret pact among Presidents that they don't trash each other - kinda like a Brothers in Arms or Frat Brothers pact. Who knows.
Giuliani: Ignorance of Terror Isn't Bliss

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was entering his final days in office when the city was attacked by terrorists on September 11. The experience changed him forever, and made him a national symbol of someone who helped the city and the country stand up and respond to what had happened.
Although he has been mentioned as a possible national political candidate, he remains in the private sector for now, helping client companies best prepare a defense against future attacks. His company, Giuliani Partners, advises on everything from crisis management and data security to promoting technologies that help detect and contain the effects of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive devices (see BW Online, 8/5/04, "Security: What Companies Need to Do").
He recently spoke with BusinessWeek Associate Editor Diane Brady about the latest talk of terrorist threats. Here are edited excerpts of their conversation:

Another explosive device under investigation on Chicago's NW side. Battalion 8 has called in an EOD team and CPD B&A has responded. They don't seem too excited yet.
FBI searches locations in Newark and Wellsville, NY
8/5/2004, 2:06 p.m. ET
The Associated Press
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) The FBI and Postal Inspection Service on Thursday searched locations in Newark and Wellsville, N.Y., in connection with the deadly 2001 anthrax attacks, the FBI said.
The searches began and will probably be completed on Thursday, said Ed Cogswell, and FBI spokesman in Washington.
He said he did not know what sort of locations were being searched, and said the supporting information for the search warrants was sealed.
No arrests have been made, he said.
He declined to provide further details about the searches.
"It's part of the investigative effort. I can't go beyond that," Cogswell said.
Anthrax mailings killed five people and sickened 17 in autumn 2001. Some of the anthrax-tainted letters were processed at a postal facility in Hamilton. There were five confirmed anthrax infections and two suspected cases in New Jersey, but no fatalities.
Chicago Freepers!
Helicopter just flew along the Chicago River, about ten stories below my floor (I'm on the 20th). Huge rumble. Did anyone else hear it??
What the hell is a helicopter doing flying that low?
I ignore the visuals and rely on the audio only. It's really no more than a global sensor array for detecting brain emissions. It's a global EEG of sorts.
The only reason I check it is because of the way they reacted to 9/11 (and the 24 hours PRIOR), in conjunction with the way they reacted during the global "minute of silence".
