One of the powers of a master is the ability to incur a lien on the vessel. Such liens include "port costs and fees"
Yes, a payment will be required.

The terrorists MO is to make enough noise to set off the alarms to see how we handle it. They made threats to the two embassies a couple of weeks before they were bombed. Extra security was put in place (probably the optimum) and they went right through it.

I believe the new Port Security Program went into effect in February. I'm sure part of it is "Very Classified" but then, what's classified anymore with people like Berger and Hanson around.

I remeber that movie - made to look like a real news report in real time.

[There was a made for TV movie some years ago that dealt with such an incident. I think the name of it was "the six o'clock news". I also recall seeing it once and, as far as I know, it was never replayed. Good movie, scarry as hell, the nuke in the ship went off as the hero was trying to defuse it. Took out a major east coast harbor.]

"Special Report"; I remember that one -- it took place in Charleston, SC.

Actually, it was Special Bulletin. Excellent movie, everything was shown as if it was being covered by TV news. Even the opening scene started out with some soap opera suddenly being interrupted by a "special bulletin". It did a great job of showing how TV news not only covers events, it affects them, and colors perception of the reality.

Fox's chopper has arrived. I can read the name off the back of the Ship - name is Genk Kaptanoglu. Located in the Deleware Bay, anchored, undergoing a second inspection.

Reckon what the penalty is for that?

First off, probably a cavity search by some Marine named "Bruno".

Just heard on CBS news........was a hoax! The captain admits he lied about explosives being on the ship.

Let the horsewhipping begin!

There's going to be exactly zero fallout in the US from a nuke exploding off the East Coast, unless there happens to be a strong low or tropical system offshore creating an onshore flow. Prevalining winds are from the West.

Current winds are from the SSW at the surface. I haven't checked winds aloft.

Any word on what the cargo was...besides a brainless captain with a sick sense of humor?

Boy if the captain actually said that as a joke, it might be worth letting them sit out there until their provisions run out and see if he fully appreciates the error in his attempted humor.

Dog - it'll go by you twice - once on the way in and once on the way out.

Not necessarily. It could fly out. In little pieces.

Wonder if it has a brig, 'cause it seems the captain belongs in one.

Anybody remember the ship that turned up in an Italian port about two years ago with a member of AQ living in a shipping container, along with his laptop and communications gear? Wasn't that also a Turkish ship?
