From Thursday's White House press briefing:
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Last Friday, the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report that shows that Ambassador Joe Wilson lied when he said his wife didn't put him up for the mission to Niger. The British inquiry into their own prewar intelligence yesterday concluded that the President's 16 words were "well-founded." Doesn't Joe Wilson owe the President and America an apology for his deception and his own intelligence failure?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, one, let me point out that I think those reports speak for themselves on that issue. And I think if you have questions about that, you can direct that to Mr. Wilson.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Well, we spent so many weeks here dissecting the 16 words that are now absolutely true. Don't you think --
HELEN THOMAS: How do you know that?
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Excuse me, Helen. Don't you think that America deserves the opportunity to have this information brought forward, as well?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, I noticed the media reports on this very issue over the weekend.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: There were very few of them.
MR. McCLELLAN: And I certainly recognize that it was getting a lot of attention previously. But I think the reports speak for themselves on it.
See my post #80. Another Freeper pointed out a possible motive for the White House's low-key approach to this.
Liberalism makes you ugly -- all of the hatred (included self-hatred) turns inwards eventually.
Or lives under a certain bridge at Chappaquiddick.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: (backhanding Helen Thomas) Excuse me, Helen. Don't you think that America deserves the opportunity to have this information brought forward, as well?
Reads much better that way.

"It's pretty much impossible to write without bias."
Times have obviously changed. I was a reporter for about 18 years and found it challenging at times, but nowhere near impossible to write objectively. It's what we studied in J-school. If it's impossible, the reporter should refuse the assignment.
Well said!!
mc
bump !
It's impossible, but we like people who try to avoid it.
That's my impression as well. I think that in the critical weeks just before the election, they're going to be *everywhere* with ads and interviews going BAM, BAM, BAM.
At least I certainly hope so.
The problem with the media, they forgot how to perform investigative journalism. They are all opinionated journalist that report nothing but he said, she said. During these press conferences they always start by stating,"there was a report in the bla, bla, bla".
McClellan was practically apologizing for the question which was a fastball right down the middle. I would have hit it right out of the park by asking THE MEDIA to give THE TRUTH as much attention as they gave THE WILSON LIE or explain to the American people why not. Yes why not.
Question: Is Karl Rove going to stay with the Rope a Dope plan right up until January when they hand over the keys to the White House to a team that is to the Left of Bill Clinton? I'm starting to believe that Marx was right - there are more Useful Idiots than thinkers.
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who's the ugliest of us all?
Helen Thomas is allowed to be there so that every other ugly person in the world will know that they are NOT the ugliest.
