NBC breaking says for sure it's Edwards for veep
Not according to a lot of the doomsayers here. So are so whacked out that they think Bush is intentionally trying to lose the election.
As I said before, the fortunate thing is the RATs are struggling down the same road, and unlike the Pubbies, they do have someone nipping at their core. The question is how many states Nader will get in with only grass-roots support (he's already opted out of Arizona), and whether he'll last until November.
All that doom-and-gloom having been said, I do realize that as bad domestically the Pubbies have been, a RAT-infested Oval Office and a RAT-run Congress, even as a "lesson" to the GOP, would be infinitely worse. It remains to be seen how many others see that.
Are you always this filled with gloom??
Be Happy
Operating on your level I might well ask in response, "are you always so presumptious and condescending?" If you got a beef with my reasoning and you did, fire away. But leave the personal backhands out of this .
Did ya'll ever have a primary in NC?
Mom was right, we should have never allowed women to vote.
is or has Edwards been a member of the ACLU?
I understand. But over the years, we have thrown a lot of good people overboard to please the masses, and the dems and the media just pick a new target. At some point, you may as well go with the guy you like, because whoever is in the slot will be painted as some sort of evil being; racist, war-profiteer, baby-eater, hypocrite, something.
I think it will be far easier to defend Cheney's relationship with Haliburton or Haliburton's activities (both of which are by all appearances, legitimate and above-board) than to find another man as qualified and effective that will not be painted in some negative context. Rather than giving in on Haliburton, we need to be pointing out that Cheney's association with Haliburton ended in the summer of 2000. Why do we even debate Haliburton anymore? Secondly, there are fuzzy allegations of wrongdoing on the part of Haliburton, but there is never a specific charge leveled. So why should we accept that something the company does is wrong? This repeated association in the media has created a straw man that the dems attack daily. We need to separate Haliburton from the accusations, and to separate Cheney from Haliburton. If we cave, we will just have to fight the same battles (on a different battlefield) with a weaker candidate.

The fact he will stay a senator will make it interesting as the Federal Marriage Amendment comes up for a vote
in Duluth MN recently, for the state DFL convention, people went nuts for him. He was referred to as 'Elvis,' which has to be a good thing in politics.
To do it the candidate must be on the offensive and he must set the agenda. He must present an affirmative vision in broad terms for America.
Clearly, Bush has the tools to do this. He can present a vision to carry the next stage of the war on Terrorism (not Iraq) and a vision for the good jobs his tax cuts will create in a new information economy. He cannot do this while he is back on his heels.
I'm sure they had top contenders all laid out ahead of time. They sure are organized in the Bush-Cheney campaign. Not according to a lot of the doomsayers here. [Wh]o are so whacked out that they think Bush is intentionally trying to lose the election.

They'd be wetting themselves if Kerry had picked a bag of potting soil. Anything to give his campaign a boost.

That's the only way they can get attention.
SENATOR JOHN EDWARDS: UNACCOMPLISHED
AND INEXPERIENCED
Kerry And Family Question Edwards Experience
Kerry Attacked Edwards Maturity And Experience; When I Came Back From Vietnam
I Dont Know If John Edwards Was Out Of Diapers Then. In the Senate four years and that is the full extent of public life no international experience, no military experience, you can imagine what the advertising is going to be next year, Mr. Kerry said. With a grin, he added: When I came back from Vietnam in 1969 I dont know if John Edwards was out of diapers then. Well, Im sure he was out of diapers. (Adam Nagourney and Jim Rutenberg, With Hopes Up And Elbows Out, Democrats Give Iowa Their All, The New York Times, 1/19/04)
Kerry Attacked Edwards Experience. I think the American people want an experienced hand at the helm of state, said Kerry, who has spent 19 years in the Senate compared with Edwards five. This is not the time for on-the-job training in the White House on national security issues. (Mark Z. Barabak, Diverse States May Reshape The Democratic Race Today, Los Angeles Times, 2/3/04)
Kerry Blasted Edwards Lack Of Military And Foreign Policy Experience. Kerry took aim at Edwardss lack of military and foreign policy experience while responding to Edwardss comment that both candidates shared similar plans to rebuild Iraq. Well, I think he would like it to be that way, said Kerry, a decorated veteran, but I think I have 35 years of experience in international security, foreign policy, and military affairs, and I think that makes an enormous difference here. I think that the world is looking for leadership that is tested and sure. (Raja Mishra, Edwards And Kerry Emphasize Contrasts, The Boston Globe, 2/23/04)
Kerry Mocked Edwards Ambitious Nature After Only One Term In Elective Office. The veteran senator also questioned the former trial lawyers pursuit of the presidency after less than one term in elective office. And people call me ambitious? a Globe reporter once overheard Kerry asking an aide. (Glen Johnson, Once a Rival, Edwards Staying Close to Kerry, The Boston Globe, 6/10/04)
Kerrys Stepson Voiced Concern Over Edwards Foreign Policy Credentials. Kerry is likely to name a running mate within two weeks, [Chris] Heinz said, offering no inside information. I was very pro-[North Carolina Sen. John] Edwards in the spring, he said. But now I think we may need someone with stronger credentials on foreign policy. (Jack Kelly, Chris Heinz On The Stump In City For Stepdad, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 6/17/04)
So John Kerry has chosen as his running mate a man with less than four years experience in the US Senate (even if you include all the time he's spent campaigning for President), no other history of elective office, no executive branch experience whatsoever, and no real world experience except in court as a trial lawyer. If I wanted to hire someone to sue the US Government, John Edwards might well be my man. But to step in and run the US Government at a moment's notice? No thanks!
The situation is not as dire as you proclaim it to be, and I gave you facts to back that up. I could give you many more, but it appears that you want to be just where you are.
Anyone who is personally offended by the words "Be happy" is beyond help, so do carry on.
Sorry to bother you........
Don't go there.
The first choice of the liberal establishment.
Two hardcore liberals. Bring it on.
