A combined effort between Freepers and Protest Warriors was a MAJOR success today in Richmond, Virginia!!
A.N.S.W.E.R. and local socialist sympathizers (IndyMedia) were taken by surprise by a joint operation called "Lightning Bolt". What was supposed to be a HUGE Anti- Bush, Anti-War, Anti-America, Anti-Everything rally, turned out to be nothing more than maybe 200 - 300 hundred of the "usual" suspects. In other words, the un-washed, and the un-employable !! There seemed to be more police than protestors, even though, as an inducement to swell the crowd of protestors, they advertised "Free Food". As the Freepers and Protest Warriors lined Belvidere and Franklin Streets with signs and flags, motorists started beeping their car horns and giving us the "thumbs-up". This did not please the socialists and anarchists. Nor did the fact that we received a large amount of media attention. Several Freepers and Protest Warriors were interviewed by 2 local television stations, and 2 local reporters for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Not "one" American flag was seen in the march, BUT......a large "United Nations" flag was proudly hoisted in the middle of the marchers. This will come as no surprise to Freepers, but it is nonetheless disheartening to see people who would rather carry a U.N. flag in place of an American flag.
We were all thrilled at the reception of the local residents who supported our efforts, but the entire day was justified when a young man, who was out riding his bicycle, stopped to thank us for supporting the troops. He was a former Marine, and he just wanted us to know how much our support meant to him.
It was a good day......a VERY good day !!
Thanks for the link. I think I'll order one and burn it!! The Media should love it!!
Thanks Betsy!!
BTW...GREAT job with the flag!! :-)
Taxman Bravo Zulu to all!
Sound advice. Thx MUD. I would be glad to carry one. The other...well, let's just say I'll let them carry that one. Besides I'm not sure I'd actually spend hard earned cash on the darned thing anyway when it came right down to decision time.
I missed it so I have to ask if I need to hide or did I do a good job?
If you got on, you did a good job.
As time goes on, you'll get more comfortable doing those.
Best to think ahead of time about what point you want to make and then keep your replies short and on that topic so that's pretty much all they have to work with. That way the editors have little choice on what to use.
great job. keep up the good work. Looks like a great success.
Richmond Freeper ping!
I missed your debut on TV. Dang it. :(
"Great work everybody, I'm heartbroken I didn't drive down.

I'm looking forward to seeing you DC FReepers again. I'm sure we will meet up again soon, but plan on next year taking a road trip to our "sleepy little town". Life gets in the way at times, so don't worry about not being here this time. You guys have many battles there that you fight and can't travel to all the others as well.
If I learned nothing else while I was an investigator I learned that keeping my answers short is to my advantage. Reporters often try to spin what you say one way or another, and as you pointed out it is up to us not to give them the room to do so.
I was very careful to not go neg. and to be direct and stay on topic.
I'm not so worried about what I said, but I am worried as how I looked. Vanity is the devils favorite sin you know. LOL
However I knew from the get go that this reporter was going to be on my side since a girl from the Anti-America march walked over and tried to elbow both of us before he even got to ask the 1st question. We both just laughed at her. In short, SHE REALLY MESSED UP!!!!
"I missed your debut on TV. Dang it."
LOL me too. I am going to order a copy of it from the news guys so I will give a report on what I said when it arrives.
BTW, When is our next get together?
Thank you from all FReepers and Protest Warriors in Richmond, Virginia !!
Damn, do they look greasy!
I think that our next "FReep" should include the burning of he U.N. Flag!!
Way to go, Richmond-area team! Wish I could have been there...but looks like you got a great crowd out against the commie/hippies.
Thanks for standing tall for the rest of us!
Thanks!! We've got a GREAT team of VERY active FReepers and Protest Warriors here in Richmond!! It is our pleasure to represent you!!
Not only were they "greasy", they were "smelly" !!!
They were greasy...and hateful...MUD
I have news pictures. I sent them to Flora and asked if she would post them. I have not figured out how to add the caption here on FR.
