A combined effort between Freepers and Protest Warriors was a MAJOR success today in Richmond, Virginia!!
A.N.S.W.E.R. and local socialist sympathizers (IndyMedia) were taken by surprise by a joint operation called "Lightning Bolt". What was supposed to be a HUGE Anti- Bush, Anti-War, Anti-America, Anti-Everything rally, turned out to be nothing more than maybe 200 - 300 hundred of the "usual" suspects. In other words, the un-washed, and the un-employable !! There seemed to be more police than protestors, even though, as an inducement to swell the crowd of protestors, they advertised "Free Food". As the Freepers and Protest Warriors lined Belvidere and Franklin Streets with signs and flags, motorists started beeping their car horns and giving us the "thumbs-up". This did not please the socialists and anarchists. Nor did the fact that we received a large amount of media attention. Several Freepers and Protest Warriors were interviewed by 2 local television stations, and 2 local reporters for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Not "one" American flag was seen in the march, BUT......a large "United Nations" flag was proudly hoisted in the middle of the marchers. This will come as no surprise to Freepers, but it is nonetheless disheartening to see people who would rather carry a U.N. flag in place of an American flag.
We were all thrilled at the reception of the local residents who supported our efforts, but the entire day was justified when a young man, who was out riding his bicycle, stopped to thank us for supporting the troops. He was a former Marine, and he just wanted us to know how much our support meant to him.
It was a good day......a VERY good day !!
Great job! Thank you very, very much! Pictures?
I hope everyone had a good time, and no one got hurt. If you look at some of the leftist protesters in Protest Warrior videos, they aren't allways non-violent when confronted.
Great Job! And what a great gift to the community!
Photos will be posted shortly!!!
We had a great time and no one got hurt. Our police were VERY supportive of our efforts and they did not let the confrontational left wing nuts get near us.
Great job. Thanks for giving the Worker's World Party a wedgie...
Oh man I live in Richmond too and I drove by there today...I yelled "Vote for Bush" and "Death to Traitors" at some of the hippie protestors. My personal favorite is to drive by Westhampton Theatre on Grove Ave. and yell things like "Michael Moore Sucks!" or "Four More in '04" at people standing in line before F911...the highest of high comedy.
I love it! Crude but wonderfully satisfying.
pictures?
I wuz there...it wuz UGLY...MUD
Here ya go...MUD
We did, really...they were trying to get into some long, drawn-out chant as they passed us, so we started chanting "Four more years!! Four more years!! Four More Years!!" and the little Lefties FROZE!!! They shut the hell up!! We thrashed 'em...MUD
This alone makes it all worthwhile. Never stop reminding them that they are appreciated and supported. They need that as much as possible.
Wish I could have been there.
Which other FReepers were in attendence?
Gottaluvakitas1; helmut113; GeorgeW; Flora Mcdonald; mortimer snavely...and MUD
You shouldda stopped by and said "Hello!!"...we were over on the corner of Franklin and Belvidere. Lotta folks were honkin' in support of the troops, though...I was very impressed with Richmond's patriotism!!

I was with you in spirit, but was busy today preparing food for a dozen or more teenagers who will descend on the house tomorrow afternoon. I still have to ice the cake and make the burgers and unpack the last of the boxes, but I'll be ready.
I like Doctor Raoul's take on your rumble with the lefties. A Workers World wedgie indeed ...
I agree. That is why we ALWAYS make a point to personally thank EVERY veteran we meet!!
Saying "Thank you for serving", is such a small price to pay for the sacrfices they made for us, and our country. God bless 'em!!
