FBI urges vigilance for July 4

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A constant stream of intelligence indicating that al Qaeda wants to strike the United States this summer or fall has led federal officials to urge increased vigilance during the Independence Day weekend, but there is no specific threat of an attack timed to the holiday.

In a separate attack, Jund al-Quds (Soldiers of Jerusalem) targeted a Jewish Masonic lodge in Istanbul. Three top Masons were killed in the operation, and if it was not for technical failure all the masons would have been killed. Thanks to God anyway.

Yup. I try to remember that our government would declare the speed limit "classified" if they thought they could get away with it. I really think that we should "open source" intelligence information for public analysis and consumption in cases where no one is jeopardized.

I agree with the ridiculous urge for government to classify stuff. On the other hand, there are people who are absolutely careless with very sensitive classfied data. The Dutchman in charge of the server for the SHAPE Nuclear Planning System headed to lunch at the SHAPE cafeteria with a backup 8mm tape in his pocket. The data was COSMIC TOP SECRET ATOMAL. When I challenged him on the topic, he just grinned and reminded me that HE was the security officer too. It was definitely unsettling to see such a nonchalant attitude from a NATO civilian employee.

Check out He Walked The Americas by the anthropologist L. Taylor Hansen. Hansen recounts stories from the Indian tribes of North, Central and South America. Hansen never explicitly makes the claim, but the inference is that Christ visited in person. Funny consequence. I can grow a big, bushy full beard in 3 weeks. My oldest son (24) has never even shaved. The 21 and 16 year olds hardly have any facial hair either. My father-in-law was a serious alcoholic. My wife's brothers have a similar problem. The genetic heritage is there with blessing and curses.
