FReeper Reviews of Fahrenheit 9/11
Free Republic ^ | Friday, June 25, 2004 | Momaw Nadon

Posted on 06/25/2004 11:53:02 AM PDT by Momaw Nadon

I just came back from seeing the liberal propaganda film Fahrenheit 9/11. (Don't worry, I had a free pass to the movie theater, and SPENT NO MONEY on this abomination.)

These are the impressions and thoughts I have after seeing the movie:

1. This is the most virulent anti-Bush production that I have ever seen.

2. Obviously in a propaganda piece, only one side of the story is shown. It's a 2 hour long anti-Bush ad. What makes this movie particularily dangerous is (I'm sorry to say this) the skill and subtlety and humor that went into it's production. What I mean to say is that Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, on his very best day, could not have produced such an effective and seductive piece of propaganda. Michael Moore has surpassed Joseph Goebbels, and is to be considered a dangerous virus in American culture.

3. It is interesting (and perhaps ironic) that Moore chose to speak of George Orwell at the end of the movie, considering that this film is nothing more than a 2 hour hate. (I think the hates in 1984 lasted 5 minutes.) There was very loud clapping and cheering at the end of the movie by the presumeably mostly leftist viewers. Maybe this was because I am far behind enemy lines in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. Maybe liberals are less psychotic elsewhere. But, I am deeply disturbed by the extreme level of anger and hate among the Democrats and leftists.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEM.

4. The way Satan is said to lie is to mix truth with untruth, thereby confusing his victim. Michael Moore understands this very well. He does implicate Saudi Arabia as an enemy of America, but then goes on to link President Bush to the Saudis and paints the President as an enemy of America as well.

5. I found it curious that before the movie projector was put on, the sound systen was playing songs about Cuba and Havana. It was just sort of freaky.

6. President Bush is portrayed as a bumbling fool who can't think for himself, and is controlled by his presumed puppet masters, the Saudis and the "super-rich elite."

7. People lacking the skill of critical thought, who go to the movies and believe everything they see, are going to view President Bush as the anti-Christ by the end of the film.

To sum up, it was UGLY.

... an effective and seductive piece of propaganda... DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEM.... This movie needs to be debunked, line by line, and scene by scene. It cannot be allowed to stand without a serious and vigorous rebuttal.

An astute analysis. To understand Michael Moore's intent, it is illuminating to read some past quotations:

* * *

"If someone did this [9/11] to get back at Bush, then they did so by killing thousands of people who DID NOT VOTE for him! Boston, New York, D.C., and the planes' destination of California -- these were places that voted AGAINST Bush!" -- Michael Moore On 9/12/2001

"There is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we've been told." -- Michael Moore, October 2003

"In terms of marketing (Fahrenheit 9/11), Front Row is getting a boost from organisations related to Hezbollah which have rung up from Lebanon to ask if there is anything they can do to support the film. And although Chacra says he and his company feel strongly that Fahrenheit is not anti-American, but anti-Bush, 'we can’t go against these organisations as they could strongly boycott the film in Lebanon and Syria.'"

"I would like to apologize for referring to George W. Bush as a 'deserter.' What I meant to say is that George W. Bush is a deserter, an election thief, a drunk driver, a WMD liar, and a functional illiterate. And he poops his pants"

"Unfortunately, Bush and Co. are not through yet. This invasion and conquest will encourage them to do it again elsewhere. The real purpose of this war was to say to the rest of the world, "Don't Mess with Texas - If You Got What We Want, We're Coming to Get It!"

"(Americans) are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pr*cks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.”

"DO YOU FEEL like you live in a nation of idiots? I used to console myself about the state of stupidity in this country by repeating this to myself: Even if there are two hundred million stone-cold idiots in this country, that leaves at least eighty million who will get what I'm saying..." -- P. 85 of "Stupid White Men"

"(T)he dumbest Brit here is smarter than the smartest American". -- Michael Moore At London’s Roundhouse Theater

"On his North American tour in support of Dude, Where’s My Country, Moore substituted Canadians for Britons, telling audiences that the “dumbest Canadian” in attendance could surely outwit 'the smartest American.'" -- Moorewatch

"There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled. Religion is the best device used to mislead them."

"I like America to some extent." -- Michael Moore's response after being asked "You do not seem to like the U.S., do you?"

"White people scare the crap out of me. … I have never been attacked by a black person, never been evicted by a black person, never had my security deposit ripped off by a black landlord, never had a black landlord … never been pulled over by a black cop, never been sold a lemon by a black car salesman, never seen a black car salesman, never had a black person deny me a bank loan, never had a black person bury my movie, and I've never heard a black person say, 'We're going to eliminate ten thousand jobs here - have a nice day!'"

"It was when Moore went into a rant about how the passengers on the planes on 11 September were scaredy-cats because they were mostly white. If the passengers had included black men, he claimed, those killers, with their puny bodies and unimpressive small knives, would have been crushed by the dudes, who as we all know take no disrespect from anybody." -- From an article by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown describing a Michael Moore show in London

"Since September 11, the Bush Administration has used that tragic event as a justification to rip up our constitution and our civil liberties. And I honestly believe that [with] one or two September 11s martial law will be declared in our country and we're inching towards a police state."

"The Patriot Act is the first step. "Mein Kampf" -- "Mein Kampf" was written long before Hitler came to power. And if the people of Germany had done something early on to stop these early signs, when the right-wing, when the extremists such as yourself (Bob Novak), decide that this is the way to go, if people don't speak up against this, you end up with something like they had in Germany. I don't want to get to that point."

"The motivation for war is simple. The U.S. government started the war with Iraq in order to make it easy for U.S. corporations to do business in other countries. They intend to use cheap labor in those countries, which will make Americans rich."

"I think (Bin Laden is under the protective watch of) the United States, I think our government knows where he is and I don't think we're going to be capturing him or killing him any time soon." -- Michael Moore in an interview with Bob Costas

It won't be a box office bust because every night on the freakin local news channels their talking about it and promoting it. It's DISGUSTING.

That's true. A huge gross for a documentary still means that most movie-goers didn't see it.

"I don't know why Freepers get off thinking that this will be a box office bust & this is best ignored."

I heard MM today on TV whole-heartedly thank all the films detractors as they have provided publicity worth millions. I say ignore it. Don't even mention the name of it. Prepare your rebuttal for when some whinner brings up a talking point from it, but otherwise it is best to ignore it. MM said if not for people like us his film would have no publicity. He was laughing at us. Don't give him the satisfaction.

i just attempted to post this reply to AmishDude...

"no, just a difference of opinion. but i love the fact that we can discuss things like this in an active forum. i mean, where would we be without an open & intelligent dialogue?"

...but i spoke too soon, as you had aleady deleted my postings on the message board.

please, i implore you, let me just state that i am profoundly disturbed by your lack of respect for others opinions. much like our current administration, as soon as a differing opinion is presented, you poke your fingers in your ears & start humming the tune to "you're a grand old flag".

so, for all two of you who will read this reply before it is deleted: if this "forum" truly represents america, then HEAVEN PLEASE HELP US!

It really is too bad that Bush did not declare war on at least a couple of obvious rogue nation states back in 2001. That way, we'd be seeing arrests for treason left and right including Moore. Even without us being in a declared war, I have to think that there is something illegal about how the Left are doing what they are doing to undermine Bush. It just has the feel of going way beyond normal mudslinging and really does have the earmarks of more of a long and drawn out coup d' etat. The whole matter of the anti Bush groups' funding alone is very, very suspicious.

Sadly, I believe that is was allowed to expire. The fervor of the early 20th century, where the public did not, in general, find fault with the use of force to restrain and apprehend Communists and Anarchists fomenting bloody revolution in our streets, was simply lost after the 1920s, never to appear again. Look at what happened with the later abortive and half hearted similar attempts during the 1950s and late 1960s. HUAC and COINTELPRO still have a bad name amongst the soccer mom suishy middle crowd and even with some who are properly to the Right of them. As a people we have become far too anti authoritarian to even comprehensively defend ourselves during a war for national survival.

I will add one thing - I would worry that CBS or one of the networks picks it up and airs it in October before the election, that would not be good.

they can't do this as it would be in violation of FEC rules. In fact, a couple of groups are already planning to file a complaint against Moore.

You're A Grand Old Flag
by George M. Cohan

http://www.bjgcelt.thegrahams.com/GodBlessAmerica/grandoldflag.html

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,

I know $20 million is huge for a documentary - it's the most ever.

But my point was that not a lot of people go to see documentaries. Moore is the big fish in that small world.

Once Spiderman 2 opens, this movie is gone. Any money it makes or viewers it attracts is confined to this w/e only. The simple fact of the matter is, what would Joe Average want to see? A rollercoaster super hero movie that has you leaving the theater happy, or a politicial documentary that you know is supposed to have you angry after viewing it.

This movie needs to be debunked, line by line, and scene by scene.

I will not see it, but it's being heavily promoted here with obnoxious clips.

The one I keep seeing is at first glance appears to be President Bush on the golf course denouncing the murderous terrorists, then on a dime changing his demeanor and saying, "Now watch this drive," as he swings his golf club.

But the thing is it's edited. He says his piece against the terrorists, the film is cut and then at some point either earlier or later that same day the president talks about his golf swing, and the two segments are spliced together to give the effect that Moore's going for.

it cost $6 million to make and a few more to promote so to be a success he doesn't need a $200 million take. This is the left's "Passion"
