My bet: The poor soul has been dead for days, and his captors killed him right away. They just used his "life" as a ploy to stay in the media light as long as possible. Like someone else pointed out, the Jihadists don't want money and they don't even want their own comrades released (regardless of what they SAY), they just want to kill, and make sure it humiliates and impacts to the maximum. They need to die slowly and painfully.
Honestly, what could the US have done? There can be little doubt that his "captors" were acting with the protection of some powerful forces in Saudi Arabia. Really, what were we supposed to have done? For every member of the S.A. government who wants to help us, there is one that wants to hurt us.
I wonder if some of the clymers who did this got away from the Saudi's in that raid last month.
This is just the start. Brace yourself because this is going to happen again and again. We have to take a stand if this is going to stop!
