I never expected this out of Fox Newx - a positive review of Moore's movie

Posted on 06/15/2004 1:10:11 AM PDT by Carlo Gambino

The crowd that gave Michael Moore's controversial "Fahrenheit 9/11" a standing ovation last night at the Ziegfeld Theatre premiere certainly didn't have to be encouraged at all to show their appreciation. From liberal radio host and writer Al Franken to actor/director Tim Robbins, Moore was in his element. But once "F9/11" gets to audiences beyond screenings, it won't be dependent on celebrities for approbation. It turns out to be a really brilliant piece of work, and a film that members of all political parties should see without fail.

Most of the media is Conservative. ABC is owned by Disney,...

I don't imagine you realize that these are contradictory sentences, do you?

Moore lies in his movies. The evidence is clear and well documented. Any news organization that doesn't report that in any piece regarding Moore or his movie is not doing their job.

That said, the fact that someone at Fox wrote good things about him seems to prove some degree of balance, clearly refuting your claim that they are biased.

Life is simpler when you let people tell you how to think, isn't it?

The fact you believe the media is conservative is astonishing. Disney made a financial decision in not distributing the film, it's controversial...just like no one would distribute The Passion of Christ. They don't take that type of risk, with public opinion or with money. You can listen to the 24/7 pro-Kerry, anti-Bush "news" and think a single network is anything but toally liberal? They even admit they are, about 90% of them are Democrats. You are the one who is delusional.

Fox is getting worse by the day

Fox happens to be the lesser of the evils.

Once our tv broke when I was a kid, mom never got a new one. Now that I think about it, we had a lot of fun without the tv. We actually talked to each other and had fun doing other things.

That Laci Peterson stuff is revolting.

Total agreement. FoxNews is going down the tubes with these silly stories. Michael Jackson, Petersons, O.J., etc. It's such a waste!

Follow the money - That good old Adelaide boy Rupert Murdoch owns Fox ... the Weinsteins bought F9/11 back from Disney but they lack the muscle to promote it worldwide ... Mr Murdoch owns a media conglomerate that covers print, TV, cable and publishing across the entire English speaking world ... lotsa opportunities for cross promotion.

Rupert Murdoch is by and large conservative in his views - but he likes money far more than any principles.

"Actually, all of the righty attacks on Moore have all been debunked. I will give a link as soon as I can find it again."

Please do. Sources are nice.

If you've ever read any of Roger Friedman's columns you'd know he's a liberal through and through. I think he fancies himself as fair and balanced, but he isn't. His comments on The Passion (before seeing it) were nothing less than hateful.
He was only mildly critical of Bowling for Columbine, and that he ignores the slant of this latest Moore bag of lies doesn't surprise me.

There are updates on the other cable channels and Nancy Grace(from Court TV) will be doing the Larry King show tonight on CNN...

Greta's show is always centered on a trial or legal matter..though she does do other things when news is breaking...MSNBC has Dan Abrams for the legal news..

They all do it...because people watch and are interested...The Laci trial is a small part of regular news on Fox and the cable news during the day...

I'll add I don't expect Fox News to be conservative. I just expect honesty.

Murdoch has only one conservative principle he won't move from - the UK ditching sterling in favour of the euro. His entire business is built on the principle of a strong pound.

But apart from that, everything else is up for sale. He quickly ditched the UK Tories when Blair and Spew Labour came knocking with some good deals. And similraly, in Australia, he keeps his little pooch Johhny Howard on a very tight leash.

Just curious: among the users here, how many of you have watched the movie?
