Don't hear any booing from the Republicans the way they booed Trent Lott.

That was just so disrespectful of Wellstone himself. Hey, if you'r being crass at funeral, why not fart during the benediction,that'd be a hoot wouldn't it.

The camera work outside is top notch. Inside too, come to think of it.

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won; 20
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Kerry cannot even stand in the same sun as Ronald Reagan. Never will.

Maybe in President Reagan's passing he can tear down another wall. The one that divides America. The Liberal Communist and Christian Conservatives.

The godless socialists built that wall. Would that they tear it down and rejoin us in proclaiming freedom to the world and in glorifying that God whose providence has blessed us with liberty and prosperity. A city on a hill cannot be hidden - but it can be walled in and obscured by the doubters, back-biters, slanderers, and the purely wicked. Democrats, tear down that wall!

My husband & I both list it then.

Mrs. Reagan is so beautiful and classy. I admire her so much.

And how old is she? She looks VERY good.

For instance, I looked away from the television a moment to type something and completely missed that Cheney wouldn't shake Hillary's hand. I'm glad a Freeper caught that and typed it.

I missed that Karl Rove was sitting behind Al Gore and am glad a Freeper caught that and typed it.

Are those comments appropriate to a "memorial" thread. No. Are they interesting? Yes.

In the future - if a freeper thinks a "live" thread may devolve into catty or inappropriate remarks, please start your own thread and state the ground rules right up front.

"I've got to go, Rock. It's allright.

I'm not afraid. Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things
are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to go in there with all
they've got and win just one for the Gipper. I don't know where I'll be then,
Rock, but I'll know about it, and I'll be happy."

Please forgive me if someone has already asked this, or commented on it....but was it the new president of Iraq
that had one leg crossed over the other and showing the bottom of his sandal (and even shaking it a bit)? If I'm not mistaken, that is a huge insult in the arab world---showing someone the bottom of your shoe. And it had to be deliberate because it is the equivalent of flipping someone the bird and wouldn't be done 'accidentally.' I'm ticked about it.

I think the flag stays on the casket until just before burial, and is then given to Mrs Reagan. Someone check me on that.
