Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Developing...

Second only to Lincoln, Ronald Reagan is the best President this country has ever had or will ever have.

Not enough has been done to honor him.

IMHO

God Bless [you] Mr. President, its time to ride off into the final sunset

Something finally has brought a smile to my face on this thread... through the tears.

I'll be surprised if the "weeks/months left" is accurate - but whenever, President Reagan (and indeed his family) has earned his passage into the most glorious sunset.

"I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead" President Ronald Reagan

"In case they are looking for an epitaph, that would be it."

I agree, wholeheartedly.

"How could anyone choose self-loathing liberalism over such optimism?"

They couldn't.
And I suspect avoiding that man's brand of optomism's precisely *how* the filthy Liberal-Socialist liars have gotten as far as they have.
The Liberal-Socialist doesn't dare tell the truth of who or what they [don't] stand for, lest they ALL be tarred, feathered & run outa Dodge on a rial the instant they shut their miserable piehole(s).

But your question does lend much insight into *why* the Liberal-Socialist freaks hated, no, loathed that great man as much as they did, too.
Loathed him then & continue to loathe him 16 years after he left office.
That's the kind of maintained hatred of The Beast, Itself.

RR's message of *hope* negated the only thing the Liberal-Socialist ever stood for, hopelessness.

The man's message was a virtual cross held up to the miserable bloodsucking parasitic vampires; &, if there was ever any doubt about that?
Just revisit the Liberal-Socialist reaction(s) to RR in his day.

...or merely the mention of his name, *today*.

It is incredible how many of us here at FR confess that President Reagan was THE most instrumental person who shaped our political ideology.

It was a great moment.

So much happened so fast.

For some reason, I awoke very early in the morning, which almost never happens. I turned on the TV, and there was President Reagan in his bathrobe, speaking to the nation about our invading Grenada upon the request of some leaders of the neighboring states, who had become alarmed by Castro's sudden attempt to use force to make a conquest of everything south of the border, so to speak.

A lesser man would have made a scene for the benefit of the talking heads among liberal-dom and the liberal media.

Yet President Reagan acted promptly.

That, actually, is the moment that the Berlin Wall cracked fatally and began to collapse.

It stunned the communists, foreign and domestic, and it stunned our military, that much more would be expected of them, despite the budget, they would have to get their act together!

It finally dawned on people that the President was serious.

He was not there in the office for the purpose of spinning the ships wheel for the benefit of the intellectual snobs of the "new republic;" indeed, he was there to launch torpedos if need be; and he would launch them.

The liberal media were ready to vivisect him.

Then, suddenly, back came the rescued students from the medical school on Grenada. The liberal media could not wait to get their hands on these students who would surely disdain, dismiss, and generally "diss" the President as a war monger, a loose cannon, a ... conservative.

That, did not happen.

In fact, the students were thrilled at their rescue and said so on national TV ... much to the chagrin of the liberal media who then took that "story" and set it away from the TV camera ASAP.

I was just plain ecstatic. In 1980, that gorgeous blue (Reagan) v. almost no red (Clinton) election map; and now this, affirmation of affirmative action from a man who would stand up and champion liberty and our preserving it, and therefore, us and the blessings of liberty.

It was a major defeat for the proponents of un-limited government, in Moscow, in Havanna, in Paris, in Berkeley, and in the socialist structures housing the liberal media.

To wake up in the morning and again breathe the free air.
