Hollywood sources tell LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke that former President Ronald Reagan's medical condition has suddenly worsened. "He really took a downslide today," the insider told Finke Friday evening. "Doctors are at the house. Things aren't good." At the start of the day, several news organizations chased down a rumor that the ex-president had died, but it wasn't true... Family members gathered at the Reagan's Bel Air home late Friday... Developing...
DemonRATs are indeed the party of DEATH....just look at how hard they fight for the death of the UNBORN!
He brought so many away from the Dark Side, both in terms of their souls and in actual freedom.
And if anyone doubts that he played the leading role in bring communism to its knees, just read 'Victory.'
My mom was born on the same day as Reagan, and she was proud to say so as she followed accounts of his life over the years. She made it to 90, and died several months to the day before 9/11, which was a blessing in some ways. I am thankful R.R. was also spared from "knowing" about that terrible day. If I know Mother, she'll be waiting to greet him when he gets to that better place. And they'll have lots to talk about.
When this great man passes he takes with him the values of his generation, values all Americans of his generation were expected to possess in order for them to build this nation into the best, strongest, and fairset nation history ever witnessed.
It was not an easy task.
I'm reminded of a scene right out of the motion picture, "Network," when Howard Beal announces the CEO of the network, George Ruddy, died & how we were all in a LOT of trouble, and, he goes on to state the reasons why he believed so. That an insignificant man like George Ruddy was the only one who stood between sanity & madness.
Ronald Reagan had that role for us, stood firmly between sanity & madness.
To all I've pinged, please take a moment to hop over HERE & read a heartfelt & extremely moving tribute to an American icon written by one of Free Republic's, -- and America's -- best.
OK?
Joanie, you wrote: "Even in illness, you have served as a beacon a port in the storm -- for liberty-loving Americans during two of the most faltering, irresolute, tumultuous decades of our existence. Without that beacon, we will have to look around for another upon which to fix our gaze and there is no other that shines as brightly."
In Ronald Reagan's own words, "I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead."
The thing I'll remember most when I reflect back on Ronald Reagan the man will have to be his depthless, unending faith in The United States of America.
And in particular?
...in the American people.
Most likely 2004 will mark the passing of all three lions.
Bump.
Now you're getting me choked up. I imagine that it's going to be the same story for millions of parents in the days to come.
Lucky Ann! What I would have given to be in her shoes
Also want to say to Freepers.....Please try to visit the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA....it is such an awesome experience.....Can't begin to express how much it meant to my husband & I.....Besides all the history...we really got to know President Reagan and the wonderful marriage he & Nancy shared.
I choked up trying to tell my wife that this could be RR's last day. Heaven will be a better place when he arrives.
I was one of those troops. It was my finest moment.
I voted for President Reagan in 1984, my first election. Last year I was at a party, when the topic of discussion turned to, "So, what was your first election?". It was kind of humorous to learn I was the only one old enough to have voted for Mr. Reagan.
True story: The Berlin Wall had only recently come down when a friend and I ventured out into what had been the Soviet Union. While there, in Krackow Poland to be exact, we went to an ancient Medieval marketplace. There, on the plaza, were various 'Russian dolls.' You know the kind, the ones that stack inside themselves. Anyway, the one that was selling best? You guessed it. Ronald Reagan! In fact, Reagan's likeness was selling about 10 to 1 against the leading competitor: Gorby.
It wasn't the first time I had heard it on this trip, but each time I did my heart swelled. "Reagan makes us free people."
When you hear it right from the 'horses mouth,' it makes it much easier to keep the faith when presstitudes try and diminish Reagan's role in finishing his work of the late 20th Century.
God bless Ronald Reagan's family and give the former president peace all the rest of his life, whether these are his last days or not. He did great things for this country and was a good man who genuinely believe in the American ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity.
