Report: Obvious Signs Of Foul Play In Girl's Death
Autopsy Scheduled For Monday
POSTED: 2:59 pm CDT June 6, 2004
UPDATED: 2:57 pm CDT June 7, 2004
WILMINGTON, Ill. -- The body of a three-year-old girl from a small Will County community was found hours after an Amber Alert was issued on Sunday.
Wilmington Police Chief James Metta said a pair of hikers found the body of Riley Fox in a section of Forked Creek that runs through Forsythe Woods. Police said there were obvious signs of foul play on the body, NBC5's Kim Vatis reported on Monday, but authorities would not elaborate.
Between 500 and 600 volunteers had been searching for the girl, Metta said. Riley's father, Kevin Fox, reported her missing Sunday morning when he awoke and couldn't find her in the family home. The front door to the home was open, but the father said he did not know whether his daughter had opened it and wandered off or not.
Fox told police he had gone to a concert with friends Saturday night and left Riley and her brother, Tyler, 7, with their grandparents. The children's mother, Melissa, had gone to Chicago to participate in Sunday's breast cancer walk.
Kevin Fox said he picked up the children about midnight and put them to bed about a half hour later. NBC5's Amy Jacobson reported Sunday night that Riley fell asleep in the car on the way home and was put to sleep on the couch.
The Wilmington Police Department authorized a statewide Amber Alert on Sunday afternoon, police said. But the alert was called off about three hours later when her body was found.
"We have no doubt foul play was involved," said Pat Barry, a spokesman for the Will County Sheriff's department. "But I don't believe there is a mass murderer or anything like that walking around the streets of Wilmington."
NBC5 reported on Monday morning that Riley's brother, Tyler, had not heard or seen anything related to Riley's disappearance.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

New I'd be cremated at 5 y old, going to put my ashes in an ashtray, so when someone smokes, they will think I'm a comin' back!
Not that I could tell. I just spoke with my old administrative assistant about 3 weeks ago. Gritzner finally decided to retire.
My dad's big military exploit came as the gunnery officer in charge of the port 5 inch battery on the U.S.S. Iowa. His crew wiped out the North Korean winter ammo supplies at Wonsan Harbor on Sept 23, 1952.

Certainly people have had dreams, visions of China attacking through Mexico with Cuba, Some Middle Eastern countries, Russia and Japan as well as a "European nation" all against us and attacking us in different areas.
We shall see. I certainly don't trust France, now Spain and a long list of other.

Sure glad it was a false alarm.
Sounds like a Bubba G8 Meet:

You tell your dad I said "Thank You...and God Bless." My wife's uncle was a Korean War MIA. He never came home. He's still MIA. I just wrote a screenplay on his story. My agent says thing's seem to be looking good. Anyway, tell your dad that although Korea is the "forgotten war," many still remember.

At this point in my life, I'm doing more or less all I can to contribute to The Kingdom. Nothing else makes sense. Life is too short to do anything else with it. Especially in this day and age and at my age of 57 with terrorists plaguing the Republic and the world.
I want there to be plenty of evidence to convict me of being a genuine Christian!
And, I'd prefer that even my death contribute to The Kingdom, somehow--that it would count more than average.
Thanks.
