As an American [applied for citizenship here from Iran since 1999], and a Muslim i would like to strongly condemn the brutal beheading of a fellow American in the hands of Barbarians.
I also, condemn Islamic terrorism across the world and join millions of others in Iran and i'm sure other places across the middle east in condemning these horrible acts.
I moved here in 2000, i was a part of the student uprisings in 1999 in Iran. The very thing that the US is fighting right now in the middle east, are what students in Iran are fighting.
There is no difference between their fight and ours, nor the fight across the middle east between the modernized - moderate form of islam and the radical form.
Unfortunately, moderates have been unwilling to take arms or act aggressively against radical islam and when we have we've been condemned for human rights abuses.
That's all.. after reading some of the posts on here i just wanted to say i'm Muslim and i condemn these acts.

Went something like "I appreciate your apology for the behavior of some of your "scum". I would like to apologize for the behavior of a lot of our "scum". No way! Are you serious?

Cyrus - Yours is the first statement by any Muslim that I have seen that did not blame Zionism, Jews in general, Jews in Israel, or the American support of Israel for any and all actions taken by Muslims. It is welcome.
Unfortunately, you are probably a voice in the wilderness.

I think that Islam was originally founded by war and hence the quotes from the Quran, in fact it was spread by war.
Muslims need to realize that moderation and modernization is not sinful and that the similarity between the religions bind us more than separation.
Christians aren't doing what the Catholic Church did in 600 A.D., so why are certain Muslims following what Muslims did in 600 A.D.?
I think we are already seeing it in many places like Turkey, Jordan, and Iran but you'll likely see a growing trend.

I'd personally like some answers.

On another thread a poster suggested that we kill ALL Muslims, including Americans. I hope you don't agree with that sentiment.

"When I hear Bush call them 'Evil Doers' I momentarily cringe at the simplicity, but if not Evil, then what?"Yep, "Evil" is a nice, simple term. It's black and white. Good vs. Evil. The Enemy is simply Evil.

"Moslem Hindus" No contradiction. Moslems are people who follow the religion Islam. Hindus are the people of India(Hindu/India- same root word). The term "Hindu Religion" refers to the religions of the Hindus,i.e. the people who live in Hindustan/Sind/India (all really the same word) and is, in fact, a congeries of religions and includes Buddhism and Islam and and can even include the Thomas Christians and the indigenous Jews (there since BC).

Years ago, I met several Christian missionaries who worked at the Jibla Baptist Hospital in Yemen (yes, the one where several people were killed a few years ago). At the time, the hospital employed a devout Muslim man as their accountant. They were confident that because of his deeply held beliefs, he would handle their books honestly. Their respect for the man's integrety was apparent.
Sometimes it seems impossible that there ARE Muslims "out there" who don't intend harm to those of us who don't share their beliefs, political ideals or whatever else. Thank you for your post.
As a side note, years ago during the Iran-Iraq War, I worked for an Iranian man. He was a very intelligent man. He claimed his parents had worked for the Shah in the ministry that dealt with health/medicine; his uncle who had immigrated to the US was a physician practicing in a nearby town. At the time, I found his insights fascinating and now even more so in the current international climate. After learning from him how to correctly pronounce "Iran" -- he'd always say, "it's not a simple sentence!" -- I'm still amazed that many in the US news media can't get it right.
Since working for my former boss, I've tried to keep up on the situation in Iran, praying that someday its people would be free. I'd be interested in any book titles and/or authors for information on one interested in learning more about Iran.

"No way! Are you serious?"Yep. Dead serious. It was never reported. A friend of the person who wrote it posted a copy of it on FR, but out of enormous number of "Iraq prison photos" thread, I don't stand a chance of relocating it, and can't remember the screename of the FReeper who posted the copy. Now I wish I'd saved that post.

Now i think we're being very disrespectful.
If you're referring to Mohammad, we don't pray to Mohammad.

I think you are More Iranian than Muslim!
You just proved it is more of an Arab hatred than a Muslim hatred.

Thanks alot for the kind words.Ignore him. Radical Islam is a problem, but the problem does not originate in Iran (Saudi). I honestly wish that the U.S. would help you guys overthrow that nutty regime that is in charge.

I know the Persians dealt with Iraqi barbarianism during the Iran-Iraq war in the 80's. Persians are quite different from Arabs --- the Iranians held US hostages but I think all were finally released unharmed.

Mohammad is merely a prophet in Islam, as is Jesus who is equally as revered.
To: BadAndy
I sincerely appreciate your condemnation. If you don't mind, I would like to ask you a question. After seeing all of the death, intolerance and barbarism inherant in your religion, why do you remain a Muslim? I honestly don't mean to offend you, I am just curious. If you don't mind, I would like to ask you a question. After seeing all of the vitriole, stupidity, lack of reason, and barbarism of the "nuke everybody but me" segment of Free Republic, why do you remain a Freeper? I honestly don't mean to offend you, I am just curious.

"Christians aren't doing what the Catholic Church did in 600 A.D., so why are certain Muslims following what Muslims did in 600 A.D.?"Because Muhammad hadn't come up with Islam yet in 600 A.D., but I get your point. I hope you're right about the trend and that it grows rapidly.

Cyrus, thank you for taking a stand against the Islamic terrorists. I'm glad you are an American, and I haven't said that to ANYONE else who is a Muslim. LOL! :-) I also appreciate the desire of the Iranian people to be free, and I have prayed for them to win the battle against the evil mullah's who deny them their freedom.
It's difficult for Americans and other people around the world to understand how anyone can belong to a religion that condones and encourages the slaughter of innocent people. When no one speaks out against it, you can see where millions of people around the world have the belief that Islam is an evil religion.
I've seen excerpts from the Koran that says we are all Infidels and we should all be killed if we don't convert to Islam, and that definitely disturbs me. Would you please explain to me what those Scriptures mean?
In no way is this intended to embarrass you, so if you would rather take this to FReepmail, then please do. I just need for someone to help me understand how anyone can support a religion that wants to kill me and anyone else who does not belong to it. Again, thanks for being courageous enough to take a public stand. :-)
