We've all done it. You've just gotten home, logged on to FR, and are scrolling down the "Latest Posts" page, deciding which thread will get your attention this evening, when THAT SCREENNAME jumps out at you in a "to" or "from" position. You are powerless to resist; if THAT GUY's there, it's gonna be a good thread...
All of us have our own "favorites" among the many colorful souls who congregate at this fine website. They could be someone you disagree totally with, agree completely with, or somewhere in between. They might be a fount of useful information, links, and facts. Our favorite might be devastating at the art of debate; demolishing opponents in truly unique style, or he might be just plain nuttier than squirrel dung, but fun nonetheless.
Perhaps your favorite FReeper has a way with words; an excellent writer. Maybe they are someone highly experienced in a particular field, with knowledge that many do not posess. Maybe they're dumber than a bag of hammers.
Point is, no matter what the reason, our "favorite FReepers"' handle attached to a thread makes it all the more interesting to us; it guarantees a wild ride or sublime pleasure in the reading and learning. It may also guarantee an increase in blood pressure and indigestion, but one thing's for sure...that thread HE's on is gonna get a hit or two, and it won't be boring.
I've got more than a few of my own, and I'm sure all of you do as well. WHO'S YOURS?????????????????
Gesundheit!
SauronofMordor
Cicero...
Anyway, *some* of my absolute favorites are:
firebrand: Perhaps the most dedicated, passionate person and activist who does more for FR and conservatism than most people know - and is truly a great friend
tabi katz: another great friend. If anyone is more pro-Israel and anti-Clinton than I am, it's TK
hellinahandcart: one of the funniest, smartest (and wisest!) people I am honored to know
sauropod: among many other reasons, for teaching me to refer to people like Nurse Bloomberg as a "picknoses"
el_texicano: one of the nicest and most interesting people, with more in-depth knowledge on a variety of subjects than most people I know -- and the kewlest accent ;)
mrobison: for being so patient at that altar ;D
SJackson, Yehuda, Alouette, dennisw, Slings and Arrows: for all the great Israel/Middle East posts
dubyaismypresident, Dan from Michigan, Rika Strom, Gabz, Tioga, Constitution Day: What Happens at CPAC Stays at CPAC! ;D
Conspiracy Guy & Laura Earl: My favorite FR married couple :)
Robert A. Cook, PE, Texan5, xsmommy and the rest of the WFTD crew: Yes, I'm know I'm a truant, but I can't always get up that early! ;)
Oschisms: One of the coolest guys I know :)
freedumb2003: Wanna see if we can get this entire thread deleted too? ;D I'm glad we're on the same side now!
lavrenti: Another cool New Yorker -- never fails to make me laugh *and* think -- and is always in my neighborhood. :)
alisasny: For the best accent - and for planning and putting together the NY/Tri-State Holiday Party two years in a row!
TheBigB: Whenever I see your name in a thread, I know I'm either going to learn something new or laugh myself silly...or both!
Physicist: You probably don't know me, but I think you're one of the funniest people here. In fact, you made my all-time favorite post nearly 3 1/2 years ago: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a17378f319c.htm#6
Registered: What can I say that so many others haven't said? I'm glad I got to meet you at CPAC! :)
JustAmy: For her poems, pictures and being one of THE sweetest people!
Senator Pardek: Because...uh...because...he just sent me a large sum of $$$ via PayPal to say something nice about him! ;D That, and his esoteric sense of humor...it's the reason they keep him here.
Jim Robinson: For making this all possible!
I know that as soon as I hit "Post," I'll remember a bunch of names and will probably add more later. :)
Then I'd say you're easily impressed.
Then I'd say you're easily impressed.
It's a little bit of a hike for me, but I plan to spend more time there. Maybe we'll run into each other one day! :)
Those jackets they made you wear are so dorky. :D
Oh, I wasn't a floor trader, I did NASDAQ -- in the office, on the Level 3 Quotrons.
A few of my favorites have either gone to their heavenly reward - or, as you, have changed their screen names. Yellow Rose of Texas and Nita Nuprez come to mind.
The list is almost endless....
I just got back from a party, I cannot BELIEVE how many posts this thread has gotten to!
It truly lifts the heart...I'm seeing FReepers whohave, I'm sure, in the past engaged in flame wars with each other showing their common ground like old friends, and people just patting each other on the back for the fun of it.
It HAS been a tough week...in my own life, things haven't been so great lately, and of course, there are many, many good men who will never come home.
This thread, and the outpouring of good cheer, camaradierie, and affection that has been shown here, is but one of the many reasons I like FR so much...in a way, in these times, it is one of the things which gives me the strength to go on.
I take no offense to not being on somebody's list. I take great comfort from just being here.
In fact, I hope all those formewr FReepers who have left, and who may be lurking, will drop by just to say hello.
It certainly seems that the blood was not so bad after all.
