Notice that he's squinting one eye closed. The whole purpose of a red dot scope is to allow you to keep both eyes open while shooting.
Basically, you are looking at amatuers amongst our enemies. Their mobility is severely compromised, for one thing, because none of them are carrying rations. That limits most of them to within walking distance of their home...which can be an inconvenient place to have to go back to for 3 meals a day. Eat less and you become less effective as a fighter, too.
Nor do any of them seem to have much ammo on hand. That pretty well limits them to being mere cannon fodder.
But these are precisely the types of hotheads who we need to be killing and capturing in order to pacify and stabilize Iraq. The sooner that these amatuers are dealt with, the better.
Exactly. They know that when the Americans flip the sovereignty switch it's back to home rules, i.e. if you're caught you can count on having a bad day....a real bad day.
Small arms are just to keep their heads down until the artillery finishes them off.
Keep up the good work. God bless our troops and Commander-in-Chief. I hope they smash these guys and then hit Iran which has been supporting this chaos.
Better. Per CNN report *here*:
The Marines came under intense fire late Monday, with Iraqi insurgents firing mortars and rocket-propelled grenades at their positions from a mosque and from an open field.
U.S. forces moving against those positions also came under attack from Iraqis who fired machine guns and threw grenades at them from a BMW sedan. The Marines killed one and wounded at least two of their attackers, taking the survivors into custody.
An Air Force AC-130 Spectre gunship, armed with a 105 mm cannon, was called in to push back the attackers, and no Marines were hurt. The operation involves troops from the U.S. Marines' 2nd battalion, 1st Marines, and the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, both stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, Vanzant said.
Nope. That's a PSO-1 4-power telescopic sight on the Iraqi SVD copy, not a red dot sight, the most common of which is usually seen atop a Kalishnikov's rail mount is the Russian Kobra, a very effective unit.
The bad news is that the autoelevating reticle of the PSO-1 is ballistically matched to the trajectory of the 7,62x54r bullet's path and pretty well eliminates the necessity of expertise at range estimation or holdover by the user. The PSO-1 is fast and effective, particularly out to 600-750 meters. Though the reticle is *busy,* it's effective. And the cartridge is approximately the equal of the old U.S. .30-06, much more effective than the shorter AK47 ammunition.
