"We're practicing the law as now defined by the state constitution, which says that all of our citizens are protected by equal rights," Lynch said."

They sure like to twist what the State Constitution says.

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 1     DECLARATION OF RIGHTS SEC. 7. (a) A person may not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law or denied equal protection of the laws; provided, that nothing contained herein or elsewhere in this Constitution imposes upon the State of California or any public entity, board, or official any obligations or responsibilities which exceed those imposed by the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution with respect to the use of pupil school assignment or pupil transportation.

It seems as if they are purposefully delaying the end of this garbage.

"If the courts interpret this section to mean that marriage must be open to gays...

Marriage is already open to gays. They have the same right to marry a person of the opposite sex as you or I do.

So they can marry and if they feel the need to be with a person of the same sex then they can go do that also.

No right has been taken away from a gay.

As much as I hate to say it, this is going to take a constitutional amendment to fix this problem.

No it doesn't, all it requires is a congress that will stand up to the judiciary. I would not hold my breath waiting on the current crop of leaders to take a righteous stand on anything.

Here's another google result on Quidachay:
Resolution Is Ominous For Christians In Public Office
by Rev. Rob Schenck
8/12/02

Just recently, the San Francisco Superior Court and city commissioners passed a joint resolution based on a bar association action that prohibits its members from joining or giving leadership to any organization that considers homosexual behavior to be "unclean" or "immoral." In commenting about the prohibition, Presiding Judge Ronald Quidachay said, "The San Francisco bench has always appreciated the diversity of its own members and of the citizens who have occasion to deal with the court system. We are pleased to have the opportunity to reconfirm that commitment."

Definitely NOT good news.

This only goes to prove that the sins of this country can be purged only through the shedding of blood.

It isn't going to do anything to gripe about it here. Start writing. Email is better than nothing, but calls, faxes, and especially letters are far more effective.

Your statements could easily be reformulated as follows:

Marriage is already open to miscegenists. They have the same right to marry a person of the same race as you or I do.

So they can marry and if they feel the need to be with a person of a different race then they can go do that also.

No right has been taken away from a miscegenist.

As much as I hate to say it, this is going to take a constitutional amendment to fix this problem.

Even that won't fix it. The real problem is that the homosexual agenda needs to be rejected morally in this country, not just legally.

Perhaps, he'd care to delay his ruling in a drunk driving case, or a kidnapping case? WTF is he waiting for, poll numbers to TELL him what to do?

What's he waiting for?

He's waiting for the numbers to increase to such an extent that he can wring his hands and declare that any decision other than a "recognition" of the "facts on the ground" would be meaningless.

Think that's nuts?

Well, maybe it is.

But it's no more nuts than Arlen Spector invoking "Scottish Law" in order to protect Slick from impeachment, or The Supremes ruling on the basis of European case law so that they can ignore the Constitution.

We're through the looking glass, folks.

I have a SERIOUS problem with a Mayor using his authority to mount a Constitutional challenge.

How would the people cheering this Mayor feel if another Mayor was an ardent 2nd Amendment believer and starting handing out guns in from of the airport to passengers?

Civil disobedience to set up a test case I understand, but this is a blatant abuse of the authority of the Mayor. It needs to be stopped before we have government officials all over the country doing whatever they feel like with no respect for the law.

As I pointed out here, it's not "civil disobedience", it's civil war:

[in reply to another poster, who termed it "anarchy"]

No, it's not anarchy, nor is it "civil disobedience", which is the term they initially applied to their action.

Anarchy is the absence of government, every man for himself. A government official, issuing licenses is anathema to the concept of "anarchy". ("Hi, I'd like to sign up to be an anarchist. Where can I find the rulebook, and how much will the license cost me?")

It's not "civil disobedience" either, but for different reasons. Civil disobedience is by definition the populace rebelling against the state. When you have one unit of government squaring off against another unit of government, it's not "civil disobedience" by any stretch of the language.

So if it's not "anarchy", and it's not "civil disobedience", then what is it?

It's civil war of course.

How it ends up will determine not so much what kind of future we have as a nation, but whether we've got much of a future at all. Rome is falling, version 2.0.

Please note that I am not engaging in either hyperbole or a term of art when I used the expression "civil war" to describe their actions. I was being as clinical and accurate as possible. One unit of government has decided to break away from the rest of the country, and operate in complete defiance to the rule of law, to which it is officially subject.

San Francisco has in a very real way decided to secede from the USA. How the USA responds to this act of civil war will determine our future.

I will not be surprised, though, if the response boils down to surrender.

The steps in front of City Hall resembled a raucous wedding reception as newlyweds leaving the building hand-in-hand were greeted with applause and trumpet fanfare.

Nice campaign footage for the RNC,and free to boot!!

Thanks perverts!

And Arnold is leading the fight against this BS, right? No? I thought the silence was deafening.

Unless I'm mistaken, I recall him saying that he didn't have much of a problem with this subject prior to the election.

This marriage thing may come back to bite them in the tush. Since they like a variety of partners in their sex lives, I see big trouble ahead. When divorce hits it means someone will have to pay alimony and child support, health care and who gets the Social Security benefits? I mean do these people have any idea how horrible the divorce courts are going to make their lives?

The fags and lesbians were making steady 'progress' with the help of friendly liberals and the liberal media but I think they played their hand too soon.

No, they timed it just right. They knew they'd get away with it, so they made their move. The fix was in before they began.

Maybe government schools (public schools)could re-educate the population to accept this in another generation or two, but not now!

Doesn't matter. Anyone who objects will be marginalized as "extreme right-wing bigots". The Televisionification of America has done its job. We're in full bread & circuses mode. Keep the crap flowing through the boob tube, keep the beer available and affordable on tap and on the shelf, and a few people may grumble, but that'll be the extent of it. Anyone who tries to do more than grumble will be shot down and ripped to shreds as a lesson to the rest of us.

The madness has taken hold, and it's going to run its course. I pity our children, and their children.
