SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

My interpretation of that image is that it represents the Islamic calendar year 1424. The images of the sun and the moon are indicative of the solar and lunar eclipses of recent occurrence in Ramadan. The suitcase nuke and the detonation image are self explanatory as is the image of OBL.

That image says the jihad will plans to utilize a nuclear device before the end of 1424 A.H. or prior to February 21, 2004.

Whether or not they succeed is another matter entirely.

This is related to the media reports of US NEST team deployments which continue within the USA.

For the naysayers that don't think a nuke could happen here ,the following article needs to be read as to how easy it could be done.

I've captured that screen and it's on my list of things to translate today. Didn't want you to think I'd forgotten - I'm just a little backed up right now.

Good info there Just Piper.

Brings up yet another question.

It is often put forward, primarily by rank and file Leftists, but... in the event of a nuclear strike against the USA by some terrorist organization who does the US respond in kind against?

Answer: should such an attack occur we will know where the plutonium for the device originated. That's who we will hold responsible.

Is this the reason as an aside to and a part of Russian domestic political concerns for the impending Russian live-fire nuclear exercise? Are they telling us: "America, when you loose one of your cities to a device of our manufacture, do not retaliate against the Russian Federation because we will respond against you.

How do you show solidarity or an alliance with another country in a war against terrorism... by running total global nuclear warfare exercises against them??? I don't see the Ruskies targeting the DPRK or the Chicoms. I don't see jihadi terrorists threats against the other nations in the TransAsian Axis of Evil. I see the TransAsian Axis member nation Iran harboring people like Ayman al-Zawahiri and OBL until recently.

I also see a bogus operation last year at a Moscow theater where Russian SOF/OMON forces ensured there were no survivors. They killed 'em all, "terrorists" and civilian hostages alike with Chemical weapons. They also shot them all point blank in the head just to make sure. ((((Right, a convoy of heavily armed Chechens drives unimpeded through the streets of Moscow? ROTFL, where is that turnip truck I fell off of???)))

They have their alibi, or so they think.

I ain't buying it, but you and a few others here already know that. :)

If a device is detonated, is it possible to determine the origin of the radiactive material? How long would that determination take?

Would an appropriate response be the use of a weapon of about the same size on a city from which country the bomb material came from?

No, I originally intended to lurk that forum (((due to it's cross-breeding with the disasterous CN&V2 bbs, and links to a US-based ISP which continues host known terrorist websites))) however had you bothered to read the first couple of hundred or so posts you would have seen me identify myself to the entire forum as being Abu_massallama.

It is helpful to know of what you speak before you speak it. Covert observation (ie: lurking) and some common sense go along way.

Touche withdrawn I assume.

So, have Khan and Khabab ever met? Were Khan and Khabab ever in contact, directly or indirectly? Does AQ really have suitcase nukes or dirty bombs that are now operable based on critical information from Khan to Khabab? Where the heck is Khabab these days? Did he know the heat on Khan was being turned up? Is he here or still somewhere in the Afghanistan, Pakistan region?

Inquiring minds want to know.

You can disagree all you want, nobody here has a problem with that.

You are appearently unaware that the SIGINT (Singals Intelligence) site in Torrens (Lourdes) Cuba (near Havana) was NOT SHUT DOWN. It was in operation jamming signals destined for the Islamic Republic of Iran this past summer.

The site is operational and still manned by Cubans and Russians [[[ GRU (military intelligence) FAPSI (the ex-KGB creation known as the Federal Agency for Government Communications) and the Russian SVR (Russian Foreign intelligence Service)]]] and might also be home to Venezuelan and Iranian SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE operators and technicians.

You may find this link interesting reading.

Funny how Russia and Iran and Cuba along with the rest of the usual suspects are constantly being linked together in various endeavors: all of which are anti-US in nature.

When the borders are wide open, nobody is protecting national security.
They are simply choosing which group destroys us.

"Russian diplomacy is clearly attempting to build an anti-American alliance which includes countries like China, North Korea, Cuba, Iraq, Libya, South Africa, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran and India."
==
I disagree with this statement. Russia withdrew their listening post from Cuba some time ago, as a gesture of goodwill to the US, Cuba is suffering, because the Russian funds dried up. This is just one example.

Russia gave up a pawn, and took our rook.
Yet as my girlfriend's granddad says [he is as Russian as you can get], "never trust a Russian."

Yet when common sense kicks in, I ask myself, "Why on earth would they attack us when we are destroying ourselves from within??"

In the final analysis, Russia should NEVER be taken for granted as so many in this forum do. Not everyone in the world is as "rational" as we. The threat they pose is as grave as any other. Chess is a complicated game and they are masters at it.

Regardless of what we may think about attack scenarios and probabilities, America can not let her guard down, and on that I think we can all agree.
