SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

They have been determined since the early 90s to wipe us and Israel off the face of the earth.

Actually it was the 70's that this latest round of jihad started, though it has run in cycles throughout islamic history. Iranian hostage crises, hostage takings, airport bombings and shootings, hijacking of airlines and cruise ships, bombings of disco's in Europe, airplanes, embassys, and army barraks. It was because of islam that I first noticed politics when a kid (Carter), and later took time to study the religion. Whether Sunni or Shiite the basic teachings are the same...Kill them all if they do not convert, world domination of the religion.

The West has had to defend ourselves at various times from islam. Some of our worst historical moments have come from defending ourselves from islam, because the only way to get them to retreat and stop the fighting for a while is to scare them so badly that they are afraid of total anilation and horrific death (Count Dracule, etc.) or to kick every last muslim out of a country or region (Spain...).

I wouldn't call it treason, but I would call it unconstitutional, that they are curtailing our individual freedoms, by not allowing us to exercise our own free will to get the vaccines. The government should not be controlling it. I wonder what would happen if the companies, which make them, would start to sell them? I don't see why they shouldn't. Did the Congress pass a law that they are not allowed to?

The government can have their stockpile, but the companies should be able to sell them to doctors, who in turn could make it available.

From everything I read, waiting for an outbreak before providing vaccines could easily result in millions dead, and it will be the government's fault for not making the vaccine available in time. Does the government really want to have the lost lives of millions of people on its hands?

Can I make a few repectful suggestions to everyone?

* Can we quit being so antagonisitic towards newbies? When a new person shows up, it seems like a bunch of people start jumping on them if they get a little tweaked about something the newbie has done. Why not give them the benefit of the doubt and ask them their position, instead of labeling them a troll? This is a big turn off for me about this thread. I don't think we have anyone from DU here, and the only trolls I have seen are the ones from FR who pop in to tell us what a waste of bandwidth this thread is.

* This whole "you're from DU" thing is getting old. If you guys think that there has been anyone from DU on here to troll, then you haven't seen a real troll yet. This has been one of the most civil threads I have seen. Let's not drag it down into the mud.

I respect what all of you have contributed to this thread, let's make it an example to the rest of FR on how things should be done. Thanks for taking the time to listen to me rant.

In defense of the Newbie harsh reaction...There has been a history the knee jerk reaction is based on.

JP is not normally like that. This thread has us all jumpy and for reasons that aren't always posted for all to see.

This thread has a history for some of us extending to other groups.

JP is the greatest freeper in the world. We all know this thread is unusual. The political and threats are unusual.

There are posts and posters that reasons have been made to react out of normal.

Thanks for the clarification. I know all too well that there is a *lot* more going on behind the scenes at FR than a relative outsider like me can see. I guess you can just consider my point of view as how someone on the outside might see things. :)

For clarification, that was not directed in particular at JP. If it was, I would have addressed it to her. I know she is a great Freeper and I have a lot of respect for her. I guess I just wanted to throw some perspective out there for everyone, so that this thread doesn't degenerate into a flame war like a lot of threads do.
