Can I make a few repectful suggestions to everyone?

* Can we quit being so antagonisitic towards newbies? When a new person shows up, it seems like a bunch of people start jumping on them if they get a little tweaked about something the newbie has done. Why not give them the benefit of the doubt and ask them their position, instead of labeling them a troll? This is a big turn off for me about this thread. I don't think we have anyone from DU here, and the only trolls I have seen are the ones from FR who pop in to tell us what a waste of bandwidth this thread is.

I respect what all of you have contributed to this thread, let's make it an example to the rest of FR on how things should be done. Thanks for taking the time to listen to me rant.

In defense of the Newbie harsh reaction...There has been a history the knee jerk reaction is based on.

JP is not normally like that. This thread has us all jumpy and for reasons that aren't always posted for all to see.

This thread has a history for some of us extending to other groups.

JP is the greatest freeper in the world. We all know this thread is unusual. The political and threats are unusual.

There are posts and posters that reasons have been made to react out of normal.

Agreed. When I said something to him it was really about him being new. But I did observe that. I should have read his posts first, because the proof was there. After I did that then I knew that I must have been mis-interperting his name. He explained it and we were all good to go. He seems like a good person to me.

Just so's you know, I, on rare occasion, make my appearance on this thread....but, its posts exceed my ability to read and keep up much less post intelligently. That said, I often lurk, just to see what new is going on, especially when I see a family name on the board, i.e., Calpernia, Pegita, JustPiper, and a few others whose names I cannot remember. My point: while I cannot and do not frequent this thread or participate much at all, I think this thread is valuable. I know if something's going on, I can pop right on, skim a few posts, read back to others, and get a "feel" for what's up. Thanks for your time, and thanks for keeping informed and posting here so religiously. You guys are all great.
