Kerry Gaining Ground (Bush 45%, Kerry 42%)

January 27, 2004--Senator John Kerry has pulled to within three points of George W. Bush in the Rasmussen Reports national tracking poll. Yesterday, Kerry trailed by five points.

Kerry is the most competitive of all Democrats in a general election match-up with the President. He is also the top choice among all Democrats to win the party's Presidential nomination.

Senator John Edwards trails the President by just five points, 45% to 40%.

Before the Iowa caucuses, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and retired General Wesley Clark were the most competitive Democrats. Both now trail Bush by double digit margins.

Survey results show that a generic Democrat polls better than any individual candidate at this point in time.

These results are from a national telephone survey of 1,500 Likely Voters conducted by Rasmussen Reports over the past three nights. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points, with a 95% level of confidence.

This is Rasmussen so I'd have to question his conclusion as he totally blew it in 2000.

His polling was correct, he just didn't have the fraud numbers like Zogby did, which I think amounted to 5 million votes nationwide.

Yep, I'm more interested in a candidate poll when the candidates are actually campaigning.

How about a "Southern" poll which shows how bad Kerry will get beat by Edwards.

If you allow these Dems to continue to spew lies, and let it go unchallenged day after day, eventually the lies repeated often enough become fact to many dumb american voters, and its much hard to rebut later on down the line for Bush.

I think we have observed this behavior over and over again. Bush allows opponents to stake out a position and then he swoops in and pulls the rug out from under them. It is called...strategery.

Can't be. I read only last week that 52% did not want Bush re-elected and was losing to virtually any Dem nominee.

In other words, the only poll that counts is the one on election day.

Remember Democrats love the candidates they don't know. It's easy to project everything you like on a faceless nobody. That's why people like Clark, Clinton, etc can come out of nowhere and at first be real popular.

That's right. News has been all Iowa and now New Hampshire for 3 weeks. The Dems are at bat. The Republicans will have their at bats as well. What can the Republicans do to generate 'genuine' free news coverage like the Democrat debates?

Sadly, the GOP has a history of waiting until it is too late...the most telling was when they did NOT fight back when Clinton ran the first time.

You will recall that republican voters were SCREAMING for them to run ads to fight the lies (worst economy in 50 years, etc)....Rush kept saying, by patient, they know what to do and they will do it....later Rush had to ask, what were they thinking...they did NOT fight back...and they LOST....

I wish OUR SIDE had deep pocket organizations, like Moveon.org, that would run the ads NOW...like Moveon is trying to do...REMEMBER we can't run ads to tell the truth about democrats 60 (or is it 90) days before the election...and for ALL that time the liberal media will be RUNNING the show...thanks to the Supreme Court.
