A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

The Supreme's rejected a bid to not allow elections according to the new redistricting map in Texas. They have yet to decide if minorities were hurt(by losing their white dem representatives,LOL)
Pickering accepted an appointment while the filibustering Senate was out of town.It was a good day yesterday.

What a lovely lead-in to our Finest Family Weekend,
complete with a welcoming fire to draw us in from the cold,
and a sumptuous breakfast!
May you all have abundant pleasure and rest from the weekly grind;
catch up (if there is such a state!) on all those 'chores;'
and take time to
Do, however, pause to offer special prayers for all those in service to our wonderful country.
Their life is not one of personal choices.
They cannot choose where they are to live, are limited in all ways by inadequate income, and are subjected to an icredible number of stressors.
Their 'times' are dictated by others - when they are to rise - to work - to have free time - always with limitations of means and access.
If deployed to distant and/or hostile areas, the list grows long of 'have nots,' and it takes tremendous dedication and spirit to sustain their morale.
Despite all the hardships, they (and most certainly their families) are the most admirable of any formed group of defenders known to Man.
Thank you, Billie, for this wonderful forum you created to honor them,
and for making us an extended Family for them, and for one another...

Uh oh, TMan - - methinks FreeTheHound's calendar bears
a subliminal message intended for you.
Surely making goodies and sprinkling all those hearts in them
is a feeble attempt to undermine your wonderful state of ideal form!
En garde, Your Heroness!!

Shopping Strategy
Read: Malachi 1:6-14
"You bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick. . . . Should I accept this from your hand?" says the Lord. Malachi 1:13
Bible In One Year: Genesis 41-42; Matthew 12:1-23
"I have no pleasure in you." This was the Lord's stinging rebuke to His people through the prophet Malachi (1:10). God was angry with their careless, shoddy methods of worship. The animals they brought for sacrifice were not acceptable to Him because they were not the best of the herds and flocks. Instead, they offered stolen, lame, and sick animals (v.13).
While we may not be showing this degree of contempt toward God, sometimes we are too casual in our worship. A friend of mine made this observation about herself: "When I shop for simple things like soap or butter, I hardly think about it. But when I'm looking for a blouse to match a skirt, I shop very carefully. I go from store to store until I find exactly what I'm looking for." Then she added thoughtfully, "I should pay that same attention when I am worshiping God. But sometimes I approach Him as casually as if I were shopping for a box of Kleenex."
During worship services in our churches, we may fail to give God our full attention. We rush in late. Our thoughts wander. We need to discipline our minds so that we are not focusing on yesterday's cares or tomorrow's responsibilities. When we worship the Lord with all our heart, He will be pleased with us. Dave Egner
Our very best we offer to You,
Gracious God, Almighty King;
As we come to You in worship,
Let our lives Your praises sing. Sper
At the heart of worship is worship from the heart.

This morning on Fox & Friends, the List of The Top Ten Cities in America with Good Manners was revealed.
Enumerated were several in the Midwest, etc., but for the Ninth Year running, the * OUTSTANDING ONE * was our beloved Charleston, South Carolina, as dixie and I portrayed it to be in the thread about the state.
It is something one has to experience to believe, especially for a woman!
True Charleston men have built-in radar that compels them to kick into gear what they have learned before they could walk - how to enchant and charm a woman, as dictated taught by diligent Southern mothers..:))
It somehow is done devoid of predatory intent - simply to delight!!
Right, dixie??
They will make eye contact - smile with twinkling eyes and from their heart - gallantly help you avoid rain puddles, broken pavement, etc.; walking between you and the street to shield you from (once upon a time, garbage dumped from upper stories) splattering mud, or errant horses or vehicles - and somehow make you feel like the loveliest woman on the planet!
This respect is accorded indiscriminately to women regardless of age, whether twenty or eighty...
Colleen, I don't know if you ventured downtown on your journey to Folly Island, but if not, make it a point to do it one weekday, when there are apt to be more locals than tourists!
Dress nicely (that is, not in shorts or jeans, but looking like a lady) and stroll down a downtown sidewalk, and see the magic enacted..:))

Walking through a rough part of the city one night, two social workers heard moans and groans and muted cries for help coming from an alley. Walking toward the sound, they found a semi-conscious man.
"Help me!" he said weakly. "I've been mugged and viciously beaten!"
The two social workers stared at him for a moment then walked back out of the alley.
One turned to the other and said, "You know, the person who did that really could use some help!"

Good day to you Mama Bear, nice spread.
Just wanted to clear something up, it was Dutchess not I (as stated in the opener) who presented Johns essay this week.
