These two dead idiots "didn't have to" rob this guy either, did they?

Questions worded funny. You have to vote "NO" to vote that the shooting was justified.

I would certainly estimate that the situation as described seemed life-threatening, hence a case of self-defense would seem justified. The problem is that burglary "charge" - if there's a felony conviction he isn't allowed to legally possess a firearm at all, whether his use of it in this case is justified or not.

Personally the worst thing I'd charge him with is littering.

The appropriate response in any case of self defense should be "I was in fear for my life (my wife's life) so I shot him/them."

details of the incident should include phrases (where applicable):

He/they threatened with a weapon
They threatened force
there were two of them
They broke in

The upside is they were both DRT (dead right there).

God's speed to the courageous homeowner!

Well at least the poll takers have it right, mostly.

Well from the limited information in this article I say good riddance to the preps and give the guy a medal.

I find it interesting that in Texas you can shot through your front door when someone is banging on it and kill the banger without any problem, but shoot two guys that have kidnapped you and forced you to withdraw money it is not okay… A bit odd…

If I gave I my uncensored opinion I'd get banned. These evolutionary reverts invade a man's home, kidnap him, and rob him, and some bullying bureaucrat Monday-morning quarterbacking goon says deadly force wasn't justified? I hope the victim emptied his weapon into the goblins, reloaded, emptied it again, and then urinated on their stinking corpses.

Next question?

Sounds like a good move to me. Often these victims are found dead in the trunk of their own cars.

I am curious about this, though.

On the drive home, Deal, who has a concealed handgun license, says he pulled out a pistol from his pocket and shot Wesley Lewis Duncan, 40, and Wylie Bailey Casey, 35, in the head.

Who was driving? How did he manage this?

A 63 year old man is assaulted by two much younger men.

A no-brainer. They could probably easily kill him, even barehanded.

The prosecutor should be investigated for criminal connections. Who else but a criminal personality would attack an innocent citizen on the behalf of other criminals?

It's not a long step from burglars to politicians. Burglars usually have more scruples than politicians, anyhow. This is the real motivation behind gun control. Gun controllers have criminal tendencies.

Don't know wasn't there. Not enough to form an objective opinion.

A man old enough to be my grandfather was kidnapped and forced to withdraw money from an ATM by 2 younger and presumably stronger and more agile men, one of them previously convicted of robbery...Hell ya he was justified to terminate those scumbags.

Just saving the taxpayers some money, takes the dead guys corpses to the rendering plant and be done with it.

There are no real deterents to crime anymore with all the pandering socialogists/psychologists that think bad people can be changed...

Hey get a clue..

I call it "The Game" the perps babble back the PC headshrink mumbo jumbo and then they are pardened as "Rehabilitated"...Please...what a joke!

Bottom line, termination was fully justified in my opinion.

If people enter your house and commit felony robbery on you, you've got no way of knowing what they intend to do once the robbery has been consummated. Many criminals have a "leave no witnesses" mentality. You simply don't know. A person shouldn't have to prognosticate as to the likelihood of his being physically harmed.

This one should be really investigated. Just because you have a deal that is going south doesn't give you the right to kill, and this sounds like it could be a situation where those in his home were in there with permission to start with.

As a Dallas County resident, this is one jury I would be happy to serve on if the procecutor is idiotic enough to pursue charges. Are they honestly saying that being kidnapped isn't enough reason to use deadly force?

Consuelo Mendoza is standing by her neighbor's story. "I can only tell you that people have been coming in and out of there that we don't know, that is not normal for him," he said.

I am still trying to understand that one. Anyone know what that is about?

"They may have known about him, may have known he had monies," Detective John Brimmer (pictured, left) said.

Maybe they should have done a little more research and they would have known about the CCW permit.

Welcome to Texas.

If the guy was truly a victim of what he claims, I think he's fully justified in making them dead. His claims are what need to be investigated.

He presumably had his weapon at the time of the home invasion, right? I mean, the perps would be unlikely to allow him to strap on a firearm, wouldn't they? So why does he wait until the ride home from the ATM?

Again, I have no idea what happened. It just seems strange that bullets wouldn't have flown immediately. I know if I was the target, we'd never get to the car.
