A Few Of FR's Finest....Every Day....01-14-04....FReepercise 2004

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

The holidays are over and we've all eaten *way* more than we want to admit to or even face up to. The promise was made on New Year's Eve (c'mon, 'fess up to it) to shed any and *all* excess poundage.

I can empathize that you need all the help that you can get. So, being the concerned FReeper FRiend that I am, I have decided to rerun a thread I brought to you last summer:

by dansangel

Admit it - Free Republic is *so* addictive, you just don't get anywhere near the recommended daily amount of exercise. Add to that the holiday season that just passed, and can you say, "Double-whammy?" You're in good company, so don't feel ashamed. By following the scientifically developed exercise regimen designed specifically for FReepers and presented below, you will be guaranteed to "shed those unwanted pounds, tone up flab and add *years* to your life, or your money back!"

So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

First, it is *imperative* that you have the proper area in which to perform your exercise program. Study the above chart carefully and conform your workspace to the specs given before starting the FReepercise program.

Next, it is always recommended that you start out slowly and work your way up to the more difficult exercises. With this in mind, the above illustrated exercise is perfect to start. Take your hands and s-t-r-e-t-c-h them as far as they will go over the width of the keyboard. Now, relax. S-t-r-e-t-c-h and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest for five minutes and go on to the next set.

OK. Next, you will need to find a soft, squishy object that fits in the palm of your hand. A cat or dog toy will do. Looking at the above example, hold the object in your hand in a similar fashion and s-q-u-e-e-z-e. Relax. Now, once again s-q-u-e-e-z-e and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest only for four minutes this time and then it's on to the next set.

Now comes the fun. It is scientifically proven that computer games cause your heart rate to elevate along with blood pressure and respiration. Since this is a sign of exertion, it qualifies as FReepercise. Fire up your favorite program and have at it for 30 minutes. When finished, take a five minute breather. Then, it's on to something a bit more rigorous.

Place both of feet firmly on the floor. As illustrated above, lean a-l-l the way over to your right, as far as you can go. Then, lean a-l-l the way over to your left, again as far as you can go. Repeat ten times. Feel the burn! This time, rest ten minutes. You'll need it.

For this one, you'll need to leave the comfort of your work space. Find a couple of two-pound weights and an object that can be used as a step. A couple of wine bottles and the kid's annoying boombox will do. Look at the picture above and do the drill. Think he looks like a dork? Just don't look in the mirror. You'll be fine. Oh, and about fifty of those will suffice.

Tired yet? Good. No pain, no gain. Repeat the above carefully planned regimen for the next 6 weeks and you, too can look like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

*Guaranteed* ~ Or, your money back. [*G*]

Certainly a small snack isn't going to shorten one's life.

Small??? Snack????

Methinks I have to reformulate my mental picture of the skinny dood!

LadyX *loves* when I "pestor" her!

My hand is hurting, must of exercised my finger on the mouse button to much trying to figure out this new quilting program. Sigh why can't they just make a simple program with a data base of template shapes. :-(

Freezee...I'm worried your feelings might be hurt by this unexpected mystery of the unbirthday, and have another cake for you...

This guy said he'd be glad to share his cake, saying he will wholeheartedly not hog what's left...

I just hope Miss TheHostages returns her birthday gifts.

Freezie your attempted fraud has been exposed! Spreading a rumor that it's your birthday in order to get gifts......how sad!

:-)

Watch out for meek though, he's changed his name and has impersonated a police officer on another thread!!! : )

Re #17-18: LOL !

Now, would I do that ? Moi ?? C'mon now !

My wife Ying and I went to the Sixth Floor this morning. (That's the building that Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots from at Kennedy for those that might not know. It used to be the School Book Depository for Dallas). She wanted to go, so we did. I went about 5-6 years ago and they've added some stuff. They had on display some of the cameras used to take the pictures around Dealey Plaza that day - including the Zapruder movie camera. They wouldn't let us take pics inside the museum though. :O(

Playing catchup now. See ya'll later hopefully ! ...

Do I know you? I'm going to have to call the admin moderator and tell him/her I'm being stalked by a stranger!

:-)

Your visit to the Book Depository today with Ying sounded great!

Many, MANY, years ago I worked at an elementary school in Louisiana. I ordered lots of books/workbooks, etc., from the Texas School Book Depository. I had folders of their catalogs. It never occurred to me to keep some of those things and 40 years later I might want to look at them again. I guess when I moved on I tossed all that out.

Sounds like you all had a nice outing. It sure is a nice day to be outside now (in North Texas).

Morning, All! No pain, no gain. :)

Ying and I went to Bally's this morning for our usual morning workout.
Then we went to the Sixth Floor in downtown Dallas.

I know the routine. How many times have I pitched something, only later to wish I hadn't ??

It was a bit foggy this morning on the way in. We got there just before 10. We left just before noon and it had mostly broken up by then.

Sorry I had to check out on everyone. My boys returned from their "shoot" at the high school and no longer required my services. I had to run some errands too.
